Re: My 77 Monte Carlo daily driver
So relieved to see there was no rust at all along the bottom of the car after removing trim

Yea I was very pleased . The whole car is completely rust free apart from the surface rust you can see in first pics but that's nothing . The lower rear quarters and behind the rear glass are all perfect

oh believe me i am short on both . im working on it after work from 5 to 9 and weekends . a buddy is helping me so im saving money doing it myself . plus the body was in extremly good shape to start with . no welding patches all over the place just a few dents and plenty of sanding .

This is definitely the quickest body restoration I've seen on this site. Man you lucked out on the rust that these cars tend to suffer from. Good for you.
How far are you from Massachusetts? Â

Yea it's mostly because of the amazing condition of the body that we've got this far with it .if it had the usual cancer in the wheel arches , behind the rear window , rear quarters etc etc then it would have been a different story

Did you buy pre-made covers or are those from a shop? They look pretty great.

An upholstery shop did everything . I dropped off the old tatty seats and upper door panels . She did the material and vinyl as factory looking as possible . I think she did a pretty good job for $620

Thanks . I'm going with buck skin tan which was a factory color . My girlfriends dad had a 77 monte carlo back in the late 70's and she remembers it fondly . Thought it would be nice to do it the same color as he had . Here she is with her sisters in front of her dads car

Before and after . Most of the trim cleaned up pretty good . I'm sure the car hadnt been cleaned in years

Very nice job. That's a heck of a deal too for both seats.

Re: My 77 Monte Carlo daily driver
Instrument cluster needed to be black . Was pretty grubby so had to clean up good and scuff it up before painting . It was tricky to mask off but came out ok I think

Re: My 77 Monte Carlo daily driver
Trunk area and doors have been jammed . Always better I think than opening a door and seeing a completely different color to the rest of the car .
