Post by magic marouke Wed Jul 24, 2013 9:40 am

Hi guys . Well I introduced myself to the site a couple days ago so thought I'd show you my car as I'm about to restore it . Won't be a show car by any means just a nice daily driver . I bought it a few months ago when I spotted it and had to have it . It looked like it hadn't been driven in years but the tag was up to date and the old guy gave me the keys and said take it for a drive . We struck a deal and I drove it home .
I serviced it with plugs , wires , cap , oil change , belts and going over the car to make sure it was safe to drive around .
So what does everyone think so far ?

Looks like a solid platform. Nice rims/tires, a little work on the stance and some hotrod black paint.

Keep the pics comin!

Gotta love those solid southern cars. I'm continually amazed at the lack of rust while working on my AZ Laguna!

Here's something you can do...open the doors and look back behind them (between the inner and outer fenders). Might just find a couple of Build Sheets. That's where I found mine (one in each fender) and just the other day found them in the same place in a '77 Monte that just arrived at the local salvage yard. Both cars were made at the Leeds plant (K.C., MO).

i took the seat out when i first got it to mess with the seat belts . seen the build sheet under the front seat but was mostly destroyed , fell apart getting it out . then last month when i took the door panels off one fell out all complete . had it laminated so it wouldnt get damaged . neat things to find and keep . mine was made in fremont CA

You let me know if you need anything off that previosly mentioned '77 Monte. I grabbed most of the Light Brown interior (can be redyed/painted blue). Was going to pull the rear bumper fillers, but a couple of wasp nests kept me at bay. I'm heading back over there armed with some Raid bug killer.

I am needing a good pair of belt rails and of course the opera window trim and corners . The middle filler panel in front of the rear bumper . Any rear bottom chrome trim also and a decent steering wheel . I'm sure there's other stuff but can't remember right now . Thanks for offering

From what I can tell the car is 100% original which I'm pleased about . Even has the factory radio , which doesn't work .

Door panels don't look like they're in too bad of shape?

Not exactly sure what you're referring to when you say you need "belt rails". Am going to try and get over to visit that Monte tomorrow. I'll check out the parts you need; including the lower moldings...although my experience is that virtually all used ones suffer from road rash, pebble dings and the like.

Well, pulled a nice set of outer "belt rails" off this Monte. As you may or may not know, these are extremely difficult to find. Only the second set I've ever found off a Monte. I've got some inner ones if you need those.

Got the center rear bumper filler in nice shape.

Got a set of opera window stainless corners, but no trims at this time.

Someone beat me to the steering wheel and lower rocker moldings.

I'll PM you details.

Windshield was cracked bad due to a broken hood hinge and the hood smashing in to it when opened . Managed to get a brand new one with antenna for $92 here in my town which I thought was really good . Anyway all window trim front and rear is off . Will replace windshield once its painted .
