Re: My 77 Monte Carlo daily driver
Ok all the color sanding is done and hope to get it buffed Monday evening . Been busy putting some of the car together . Had a time lining the trunk lid up with the rear panel and the tail light covers so had to do some Okie engineering on it .
Started putting some of the interior together which went ok . Also got the door wether strip on the door and lower body trim on one side of the car .
Replaced some of the sound deadening which was falling apart over the years .

Re: My 77 Monte Carlo daily driver
Put in the front bumper fillers which went in ok . Only problem is that the bumper is a good inch over to the right and there's no more adjustment so gonna have to live with it

Has one of the bumper shocks been hit before?

Re: My 77 Monte Carlo daily driver
I thought of that but everything looks straight enough . I'm not worried about it enough to take it all off and mess with it77mali wrote:Has one of the bumper shocks been hit before? Â

Re: My 77 Monte Carlo daily driver
Thanks .
Well it's all buffed and polished . Washed it at home and all that's left is to wax it . Found a couple spots that we missed with the buffer so will get those touched up later . Looks good in the sun but you can't really tell from this pic

I found that pic a couple months ago and kept it on my phone for inspiration .77mali wrote:Hey I found you a twin in Nova Scotia (even though it's a Landau)

Re: My 77 Monte Carlo daily driver
Yea I thought black was the easiest color to go with and have no problem matching up .1973 454 MONTE wrote:my friend Lance RIP,had a very nice 76 with black interior.
That does it !!!! .... Looking at this one I have to get rally wheels , is that sexy or what ?

Re: My 77 Monte Carlo daily driver
Went back last night and touched up and places we missed while buffing . Also had a couple of tiny chips from where the hood and trunk close . Going to wash it again tonight then start waxing it . Then start putting everything back on the car .
Still wont be done after that . I have a new windshield to put in , get the AC charged and working , paint the inner fenders and inside the trunk , take it to Firestone for a medical .
Another bad pic of the car in poor light

Re: My 77 Monte Carlo daily driver
Ok I washed the car again before I waxed it . Must have sweated 20 lbs waxing it in the garage at almost 100f .turned out pretty good so started putting some more parts on it . Got the handles , locks , belt rails and mirror in the drivers door plus the rest of the trim on the left side . All the front of the car is complete now as you can see from the pic .

I wish . Getting everything else done first so I can drive it . Still have to get the windshield in , get the AC sorted out and take it for a medical at Firestone . If I see some rally's at a decent price though I'll grab em !

Re: My 77 Monte Carlo daily driver
I was surprised to here you were waxing a fresh paint job. I was under the impression one needed to wait 30-60 days before applying any wax to a fresh paint job?

Some do and some don't . My painter said he normally does it .Wallyuph wrote:I was surprised to here you were waxing a fresh paint job. I was under the impression one needed to wait 30-60 days before applying any wax to a fresh paint job?

Re: My 77 Monte Carlo daily driver
yes actually I am . The previous owner asked to see it when ever I got it restored . I started on it a month or so after buying it and I think he was surprised that I'd started it already when I stopped by and showed him pics of it in the paint shop . I'll wait till its all done then just show up . It had been in his family from day one apparently .1973 454 MONTE wrote:wow
