Wasn't it kind of risky cutting the top off without bracing the door frames? Even with the heavy doors off, I would be worried about the door frames changing shape...

Only the outer skin was cut off my car, but we still braced the body.
The door frames on the black 76 is probably out of shape.

My good friend Tony has countless hours in the Monte's body. He replaced the roof and sail panels, repaired sections of window channel and quarter panels all damaged by the vinyl top. Also straightened this passenger quarter that had over an inch thick of bondo on it. Doors swapped with rebuilt hinges. Filled many dent puller holes, rear floor pans, drivers quarter and wheelhouse repaired. Tig welded most of the repairs and finished both sides so the repairs are not seen. Hope to have it painted in the next couple months.

Just goes to show that if you want to save a car (from rust) it can be done & done well.
You got some friend there too! Are you going to put the Landau top back or leave it bare?

I like the vinyl top but due to all the trouble it causes with rust I cannot put another one on the car. Here it is in Aug. 09 when I ripped off the top in Phoenix.

Wasted time with Phil @ MonteMania, not much help, offered me a repo LH quarter after I asked for the used LH wheelhouse pictured.

So I had to buy a NOS LH wheelhouse off a great ebay seller in Canada. $304 shipped. Used the rear bottom 10".

I had a black 73 and there seems to be a few silver and dark red 73's.

I am limited on wheels since I changed the bolt pattern to 5x5. These rallys have dual pattern 5x4.75 and 5x5.

I bought some stuff from Phil. Once was enough for me.

I like the original color myself but you have the opportunity right now to do whatever the heck you want w/ paint.

Interior got coated with epoxy primer. It will all be covered in Raptor liner.

Seam from quarter panel to trunk filler was filled with silicon bronze. I wanted a factory look, did not want to weld flat and seam sealer would have possibly dried and cracked.
