My '73 build long project
I will post some pics. of my build as it slowly goes together. I am doing all the work myself with the help from another buddy so life comes with it. I try to get 8-10hrs a week on it to keep progress going. Taking everything to bare metal to start fresh.

Re: My '73 build long project
doors, fenders, and trunk now in primer. Shaving the parking lights on the side this coming week. Should go pretty quick and then get it in full primer and bodywork.
Rockers were super solid, not a hint of rust
Top was spliced in thanks to Chuck from HP tv for the donor. Great guy to hang out with. Getting it sanded and down to bare metal this week. Starting to come along.
few donor pieces for patch panels coming down to bare metal.
Car will be 4 linked to hold a 335 tire and set up on air ride. Back will be set so can swap from air ride to coil overs easily.
Engine will be pulled and put in a corner, doing a 632 to go in its place.

Re: My '73 build long project
so the reason behind the 632? I mean i know we all love power but your talking about a street car and a 632 is not a easily streetable engine. What all are the plans for the 632? Hp hope?

Re: My '73 build long project
A 632 can easily be streetable just as a 350 can. My last ride was a 540 with f2 procharger making just a touch over 1100hp and I drove it to work at least once a week and that was 70 miles round trip. This one will just have more creature comforts. It will be street/strip.

what all plans for the engine? hp goal?

Re: My '73 build long project
Start off as a 9:1 motor setup so future can be a single rear mount turbo on a blow through. Still have ac, all power. Don't really have a hp goal. Just whatever it gets me. Somewhere north of 800 ish.

Re: My '73 build long project
Few updated pictures. Bullet is pulled and ready to start cleaning firewall. Top is stripped and etched. Used the Eastwood metal blast etch. Worked really well, sprayed it on and used a scotch brite pad to work it in. quickly showed any spots left. Ready to shoot primer on the roof, rockers and sides. Next up is start patch panels. Slow but moving. last picture is the etch when wet and shows the buff marks. They disappear after the etching.

Re: My '73 build long project
Trbulnc, I am quite impressed with your past and present projects. I have a 540 in my 74 Elky that I had built for 95% street use. It does not have as long a stroke as some other big blocks and revs like crazy on the street. It has plenty of torque for a bore inspired engine. I am posting because of the comment about large cubic inch engines on the street. JB

Re: My '73 build long project
Thanks. I really appreciate that. I am by no means exceptionally talented just not afraid to try things and have an eye for details.
I had quoted another 540 Bottom end as it was a blast in my last car especially with the Pro charger but there isn't much price difference between a 540 and 632

Re: My '73 build long project
I haven't heard of a 632. What block do you start with ? Gotta be LONG stroke !
I had a '73 coupe some years ago.

I like your statement . Not exceptionally talented just not afraid to try things and an eye for detail . A bit modest maybe . Sometimes what i am posting seems like bragging on my car the truth is i am so happy/suprised it came out i want to show the world LOL .
I take your approach to building cars but if i kept the things that didnt work out i would have a pretty good size pile of junk over the years .I only show the stuff that did work .
Great job on the car look forward to see its progress .

Re: My '73 build long project
My didn't work pile is pretty big too. Here are a few pictures. Progress a little slow the last 2 weeks but my buddy and I are flipping a house and getting it ready to go back on the market. Fenders and doors coming along well. Have a big patch panel test fit and getting close for trim and install. Weather is supposed to be warm this weekend so I plan on getting some priming done on the body.

Few update pics. Have primer on the car. Doing some sheet metal work now. Splicing some sections
Before and after pic of core using just rust converter. Prepped for the rust inhibitor coat now. Big difference
Backside of a splice panels just to show before and after of the rust converter. Ready for sealer now
