btw, are you coming to power big meet in vasteras in july?

for all of you who dont know what this is, its the biggest american car meet in the world, located in vasteras, sweden. me and some other guys are going there in an unrestored 49 olds delta 88. my friends bought it at a junkyard somewhere in the midwest about three years ago. hooked a battery booster to it and it fired right up. tranny needed a rebuild but other than that there hasnt been a single problem so far. we made an 800 mile journey this summer and it ran flawless without any preparations whatsoever. i love bringing this fact up when arguing with some jap crap lovers. it usually shuts them up for good!

so here is the video of the meet:

and here is the olds

sorry for OT, i just had to share it:)

Thanks! Good to hear that there's a "scene" down in Slovenia too!

I've heard about VesterĂ¥s, but never been there. Would be cool though Very Happy

New here been looking for crazy people like myself who restore the forgotten years and models. Had one of these in High School and was hooked ever since. I have had this one for four years now and is nearly done. Interior is scheduled for this winter also complete brake change to disk and suspension upgrade. But we all know these things are never done.

Love the car! I really like the painted grille surround idea, good thinking on that one. Not a fan of the wheels or white walls, but to each his own.

Welcome Ghost Rider, I love your car. I want to install some side pipes like those on your car. Can you give details on them, such as can they be had with mufflers inside them or other details? JB

Very easy to install nice throaty sound out of the box. Gets louder after you burn in the baffels. Could use with straight pipe but is really loud then.

How much welding/fabrication is required & do they connect to manifolds or headers? Just curious. Sounds like they would cost about the same as traditional exhaust.

Hooked into Headman headers. Had to go to a custom pipe shop. Some pretty hairy bends. They only charged $100 though. Well worth it.

Grille surround was mother of nessesaty could not find a good replacement so asked if the painter could paint with the car. It turned out great I really like the way the front end looks with it.

Awesome to see all the cool old GM's and hats off to the site administrators for pulling together this fantastic site for all those Chevy lovers out there. My girl is a rare 74 Chevelle Malibu Classic with an original 454 big block (slightly modified) with a 4-speed Muncie, 373 gears with swivels buckets and newly added Foose wheels. I just bought a new 468 and Muncie M22 for her and I'll drop that in over the winter. Cheers all...enjoy the ride Cool

Hello fellow G3 Enthusiasts! My name is Mike and I live in Delaware but I'm from Virginia. I have had the pleasure of owning two of these under appreciated cars. I had a 77 coupe in high school many years ago and I loved it. I have 4 Chevrolets in my driveway, one is a 1974 Laguna S3. It took me a while to find it. Its a small block car and far from perfect but she'll get there. I'm currently disabled so its been a struggle to get things done on the toys! Looking forward to sharing and gathering information with fellow enthusiasts. These cars don't get a lot of respect since they are post 72, but we just have to add our own muscle to the cars!!

Keep it between the ditches,
Mike

~~Introduce Yourself~~ - Page 7 Empty Introduction

Post by Suiteriff Tue Dec 13, 2011 5:37 pm

Hello Everyone My name is Kurt and like you I am a fanatic over 73-77 A-bodies. My fascination started when my dad's blue 74 Malibu was the first real car I knew and drove( Dad use to let me steer in the parking lot). I remember seeing so many people who owned similar cars but was different.I didn't know anything about GM divisions at two or three years old but always loved the different styling cues. As a Gm fan I've owned many cars; for example 86 Trans Am, 86 Safari, Olds Custom Cruiser Wagon and a 2000 Safari Van to name a few. I found that many parts of the Astro/Safari front suspension were derivative of the 77-96 b-bodies and the b-bodies were derivative of the 73-77 A-bodies. I always been linked to the 73-77 A-bodies somehow and my dream of owning one came in the form of a 76 Monte Carlo.
Im Happy to own such a fine driving automobile. Its quiet and comfortable and the 400 small block and 350 THM leads to a blissful driving experience. It was surprising how livable this car is and even more surprising is the handling is better than some of my previous B-bodies.
So I'm glad to be part of this group on these cars and hope to give information on these cars and increase my knowledge base on the Colonnades of all divisions.
