Thanks guys! Its coming along nicely and this month marks a year since we started on it.
The garage on the new house isn't as large as I would have liked and will be tight trying to work on anything but I'll make it work.  Neutral

I go some round gauges and put some white faces on them. I also installed a volt meter where the amp gauge was and an oil pressure gauge where the clock went.

Next step is to paint the bezel red. I'm hoping that the all the gauges work especially the tach but I'm not holding my breath. I bought a new circut board for them but I won't find out if anything works for a while.

Nice job!  What size & brand of the small gauges did you get?  Kind of hard to find good ones that will work w/ the factory acrylic.

Thanks the white gauage faces are pretty easy to put on, just have to have patience. I put in an electric oil pressure gauge and voltmeter from Sunpro (I painted the chrome rings black). They look good and I almost want to update the fuel and temp gauges but I am going to hold off for now. The acrylic is missing on the fuel gauge side but I don't see any issues with the aftermarket gauges hitting the bezel. I haven't tried them in the car but everything lines up pretty good.

I used a dremmel cut off wheel and cut the amp gauge out and did the same thing to the bracket that held the clock in.

Just about any 2 1/16" gauges will work behind the acrylic if you remove the glass face and trim ring.  I've had Sun and Auto Meter in there previously, and now run VDOs and a Nordskog.  None gave me any fitment trouble.

That's cool! I am in Indy but my car is still in Iowa. It probably won't be until next year (I hope I don't have to say that again) until my car gets down here. Glad I know who to go to to tuck my bumpers (your's look good!)  Smile

Thanks! Yep that's Firethorn Red. I will have to wait until I go back to my parents to see how good of a match it is with the factory dash but it seems close. I used about a can but I think that is mostly my amateur techniques. It's kinda hard to get the paint in the crevasses without it running. I put a few coats of the low luster clear on it too.

I ordered everything from TPC Global. Cheap shipping and received it in a few days.

I haven't done an exhaustive search around the Twin Cities, but only place I've found that Carries it is Welle Auto. Just ordered a can of Satin Black online. Shipped to my door, it was no more expensive than what they charge...and, I didn't have to drive 50 miles roundtrip to get it.

I went to O'Reilly's to order the paint and spoke with the manger who said he would order the stuff and call me when it was going to be in. He never called me. I guess he didn't think my money was green enough for them.

I called my local O'Reilly Auto and the guy had no clue. Had to repeat myself three times and finally spell it for him. Looked in his computer and said ”nope”!

I've been able to work on the car a couple of times over the last month, did a lot of small stuff. I got gauges wired (they work), installed a new wiring harness for the front lights since the other one wasn't all that good. Installed new throttle cable, connected the wires for the A/C and some other stuff. Hung the doors and put a fender on to look to see what the stance would look like, might have to lower the front more. I ordered a white face for the A/C & heater unit which should pull the dash together. I think it will look good with my red and white interior. I also brought back some interior pieces to paint over the winter.

Ditto, it's coming along.

I wouldn't worry about the front ride height yet -- you still have a lot more weight to put back on it like the hood and front bumper, so it will drop a little more yet. Get it all back together first, then see if it's too high.

I agree, my friend installed "mystery" springs he got for free in his trans am.  It sat too high so we cut them, two months later it was borderline to low.
