Looks good there sir. I went to a show Friday night and it was only 45 or so, so I can relate to the cold thing. lol

Had the car shipped and it is now with me in Indy. They picked it up in Iowa this morning and dropped it off tonight.

I took the car out one last time in 2017 at the beginning of December and took some pics.

Thanks!
My winter to do list:
Install aftermarket gauges cleanly. The current setup I have was to get everything working. I purchased new gauges and need to modify the bezel and will make a wire harness for a clean install.
Install tropojet's rear bumper brackets. I noticed the guy who pushed in the bumper shocks did not do it evenly.
Install new rear springs and shocks to lower the rear.
Install electric and remote locks and trunk opener.
Have the dash pad redone.
Other miscellaneous stuff

Re: Hawk03 Redo
Is the taillight assembly the stock chrome one painted? Did you have any issues getting the paint to stick?

I Always wondered what a 77 rear would look like with a 74 75 Bumper I do like it but now the challenge is to find one I already went to the 74 front, I have to tweak here and there BUT it has grown on me for now. BUT question ? I wonder what would it look like with the dual Trans Am turn downs instead of one pipe out the back ?? HMMMM That would be the only reason I stayed with the humongous Rear bumper

It is the stock chrome one painted to match. I'm not sure what the guy did who painted it to make the paint stick but its been on there for a little over a year with no issues.

Re: Hawk03 Redo
Installed new Autometer fuel, temp, oil pressure and volt meter gauges. I didn't want a bunch of wires running randomly behind the dash so I made my own wiring harness for the gauges behind the bezel and one that runs under the dash. It all works and looks clean. I did have to cut out a bunch of the gauge bracket to make the new gauges fit.

Re: Hawk03 Redo
That's sweet. I am doing the exact thing thing right now. Lot's of "massaging" is needed to fit a gauge kit in the old green plastic housing. I need to catch up to you. Keep it going.

Nice work! Having done it with VDOs, it's a lot of surgery, but well worth the effort in the end.

Re: Hawk03 Redo
Thanks guys, it took some work to make it fit. I need to do more adjusting but got it so it looks okay. I have an extra dash pad that I am trying to get redone but finding someone around here that does a good job and you trust is more difficult than I thought it would be.

Re: Hawk03 Redo
I got around to painting my spare dash. Used all SEM products, soap, vinyl prep Firethorn Red and Low Luster Clear. I think it turned out good. Now I need to pull the dash out, freshen up the lower part and re-install. Hopefully I'll be able to install soon.
My repairs to the dash are here: http://www.g3gm.com/t11862-dash-pad-repair
I also painted the shifter console cover. Beats the wood grain one thats installed now.

Re: Hawk03 Redo
Looks very nice from the photos! I painted an Oxblood Red RH kick panel w/litter container using the SEM Firethorn Red and found it to be a virtual dead-on match to factory '76/'77 color.

Re: Hawk03 Redo
Looks perfect Hawko3! Looks like a 73 model year dash? Those always seemed to hold up better over the years. Must have been a different vendor for the 74-77 dashes. Anyways, can't wait to see the interior when its done. Keep us posted.

Re: Hawk03 Redo
Thanks guys! The Firethorn Red is a good match and what I have used on all the red pieces. I installed red front seat belts from a early 90's Camaro which match pretty good with the Firethorn Red. The buckle part is from a caviler though.
g3 - Yes the dash is from a '73, I kind of like the '73 emblems more than the other years. If you notice in the back ground, I was touching up the paint on the steering column Hopefully that is on the short list.

Re: Hawk03 Redo
Yup, I spotted it in the background. Your entire interior will look better than new when you're done. Very anxious to see if you have any fitment issues. Hopefully I installed the correct turn signal assembly in it before I sent it to you. I recently discovered that 77 model vehicles use a longer plug on that harness than they did for 73-76. The work around for that is the pop out the pins in your connector and use your connector on the column you got from me. I just got done doing that last week on a 77 El Camino I'm working on. It took about 20 minutes to do and everything works perfectly.

Re: Hawk03 Redo
Thanks Bill. In one of my failed attempts to install it last year, I tested the turn signals and they worked. I just need the time to start the install process again and I'm it will all work.

Re: Hawk03 Redo
That makes me feel better. Now lets hope the hybrid intermediate shaft works when you install it. What's your time frame on getting the new dash and column in the car?

I think it should work just fine. I might try this weekend but not sure, it might have to wait a few weeks due to work and travels.
I installed the painted shifter plate cover, I think it looks a lot cleaner.

Re: Hawk03 Redo
Looks super clean! The shifter plate fits right in with your matching dash bezel. I've always liked the 74-75 shifter plate look over the 76-77 wood grain look. I might be a bit biased seeing that I've got a 75 myself.

Man, that car looks good! Â Nice work!
The white panels and seats make a great contrast, but making sure they stay white would keep me awake at night.
