Read this...I thought it was a cool idea. Not too drastic & all you need is an extra set of rear bumper shocks.

Finally got some time over the weekend to work on the car again.  Removed the column shift column and replaced it with the floor shift one.  Had some trouble getting the rag joint to line up while putting the console in from inside until I hung it from the dash with a strap.  Converted the floor shifter to work with the od trans and got it all installed and hooked up.  Heck even the gear indicator in the dash is working!  Next was the console.  I had two of them, one black and one tan, and was able to mix and match to get one decent one.  Dyed the all the parts so they matched but found that the glove box in both were in terrible shape so I am in the market for one if anybody has one to spare.

It was nice to be able to finally move the car except I backed it out of the barn sitting on the floor and promptly got stuck in the soft ground.  It's always something!

Awesome. I pulled mine out of garage and put cover over it and that's as far as I have gotten with it. I agree it is nice for them to move on there own power.

Agreed.  It needs to go the exhaust shop now.  Since I installed the 2" lowering springs the exhaust hits the rear axle.

Also the fuel gauge seems to be stuck at 1/2 tank.

Hi. So does the AC in the stock location hit the frame or something? I was hoping to put mine there with that GM accessory kit 19155067.
Thanks

Yes. The low mounted ac compressor from the trans am hits the crossmember.

If you buy the Engine Mounts DD-62515L they will clear the cross member but its really tight if you ever needed to swap the compressor out you might have to lift the engine to do so and there is no slide adjustment as the mount is up against the A/C compressor with less than a 1/4" gap. It also put the engine forward quite a bit in the compartment. In this photo you can see how we had to shim them to get it to clear the Holley oil pan I bought from summit racing. ls1 swap in my sons 75 - Page 4 <a href=ls1 swap in my sons 75 - Page 4 Img_6610" />

I have this  lower profile oil pan on the new 6.0 I'm putting in my 73 Malibu it has a lower profile then the Holley pan.

I bought this A/C mount for my 6.0 as its the truck accessory drive on the front but they also make one for the car set up.

I don't know where the engine guy got the front end accessorizes on the 6.0 I bought but they are all new parts and they have the alt down low on drivers side.

Yes that's the way it is with the low mount A/C for me it worked out great as the drive shaft that was new and came with the car fit prefect so saved me some funds.
It does not look that bad after you get every thing on the fire wall. here is some photos form today of it.

Here is the clearance for the A/c unit as best as I can get camera in there.
ls1 swap in my sons 75 - Page 4 <a href=ls1 swap in my sons 75 - Page 4 Img_7012" />

I'm going with these mounts this time around so will let you know how they work out.
It wont let me copy the photo for you.

So that oil pan will clear the frame? It seems like it has an awefully long drop to it. I'm running the truck pan for now. Its kinda low but I'm not willing to cut my frame.

The truck pan is longer/deeper than the holley LS swap pan. Here is the pan I have on my 5.3 in the laguna. I had to add about 1/4 spacer to the Dirty dingo brackets made for the lower A/C, So the oil pan not to hit the cross member. So in answer to your question yes you can make the Truck setup clear the cross member but you will need to swap the oil pan out and space the motor mounts. It will move your engine forward in the compartment.

I would love to get the Holley pan but its gonna be $600 with the baffle and I am killing my budget. The truck pan will fit great but hangs low. I might even shorten it. Or maybe I'll change it out later. I just have to be careful not to bottom out.

If you shorten the oil pan you will need to do the oil pick up tube also so be careful.

This is the Holley for clearance. The truck one was way longer.

How far down is that pan hanging? Hard to tell by the angle. I set the block with the truck pan and it doesn't seem as low as the Holley appears. But maybe its the photo angle or I didn't lower the motor in far enough on my test fit.

Mine should hang down 2.5" then. I guess I will have to get to that point and see what happens. If its gonna hang that low I will buy a pan. I Should know by early summer.
