I've cursed it enough...it's used to the abuse. Â
Bill I had it on 2000 rpm holding the throttle.  It ran for about 25 seconds just enough to scare the  out of the neighbors with no mufflers on.
It was friggin loud as h3ll and sounded awesome. Â I want to thank everyone for the suggestions & help. Â Every post helped in one way or another. Â The key was to line her up about 18* BDTC, then dropping the Dist in there lined up w/ the #1. Â At least that seemed to get things right for this build & now I can do some more body work before it gets cold. Â The motor can wait for a little bit.

That's kind of how I got the engine fired up in my El Camino project. Just had to make sure it started etc. The break-in came later, with no mufflers, like yours. And it was LOUD !!

He was great. Â Loved the Honeymooners too- great cast. Â I think it was "Bandit 2" that Buford had a pacemaker...when he got all hot & bothered the thing would beep & he'd go into a tantric "Ohhhm, Ohhhm". Â Dang he was funny.
Here's a great compilation...LOL

Re: 1977 Chevelle Malibu Classic Progress Photo's aka Mali
I had to change some things around on the temp test stand for the break in to make life a little easier. Â Moved the column & wires over so I can get at the throttle easy. Â Also moved the tach near all the other gauges. Â The crane is there as a "just in case precaution". Â My old 90's window & exhaust fan puts out some serious power & should be more than enough for the radiator & front of the engine. Â I have a second one (stand up version) that I might use also & have on stand-by. Â There is a small leak in the Rad where the blue bucket is, enough to have left a small puddle about 4" in diameter so a new one or a re-core will be on the to do list. Â I took my old valve covers & cut into them for access to the rockers for any final adjustments if necessary. Â I'm also planning to use some aluminum flashing material & staple that to the wood under the motor to deflect heat & protect the floors a bit. Â Fire extinguisher is also on hand. Â
I know it's a bit unprofessional looking but it's very functional & sturdy (not to mention affordable).
(I hope 5 gallons will be enough)

what is the column for? just looks to be in the way
all you need to do is put a push button between the big terminal and the little terminal on the starter.

Easy-on, easy-off. It was already out of the car so why not. The less wiring the better & all I have to do is bolt the harness onto the fuse box. I can walk around the whole motor & outside too.
