Cowl hood?!?!?
Once I get some money saved up I would like to buy a cowl hood but I don't know what goes into it. I want to know if I can use my current hinges, my current hood release latch and the spring that pops it up. And I have seen a couple places that have good but if any of you guys have purchased one before, I would like to know where you bought it and what went into the installation. Thanks guys!!

You can use your Hood hinges but you have to get the Lighter tension springs, (bolt on hood only) you can adapt the hood latch with these version's. With Any fiberglass product it will require a Fit and finish to make to your Liking THERE IS NOT COMAPNY that makes a Perfect fitting hood ........I prefer VFN Fiberglass but others have good luck with other companies. Anything else just ask.

I got my lighter hood springs from Harwood.
I have two fiberglass hoods, both from US Body Source: a "bolt on" flat hood, and a "lift off" cowl hood.
The bolt on hood uses the stock hinge attachments. I re-used the hood latch but added Dzus fasteners (painted body color) at the front corners to keep them from bending upward. The bolt on hood was 40 lbs.
The lift off hood is supposed to pin on; I designed some adapters so that it is Dzus'd to the stock hinges. That allows me to open it normally by myself, for quick checks or maintanence, and then undo the Dzus fasteners to lift it off completely for more major repairs. There are four fasteners across the front of the hood (no hood latch). The lift off hood is 20 lbs.
The stock steel hood was 80 lbs, by comparison.
