So I got a fiberglass cowl off of Craigslist and am wondering how do you attach it to the metal hood? It doesn't line up perfect with the hood, so is there anyway to mold the fiberglass?

if it doesnt have the lip to mold it on you are better off selling it and buying one that does, not having the lip to work with is a real PITA

thats a good start brother, where the body line is why it doesn't line up in the front, you have to work with that to get it to fit, you have to take it off from the bottom side to get it to fit right, but dont go to far.

And from the side view its got more of a lil slant like for a camaro type hood ??

How do you make it flush with the hood? I think it might actually be for a Camaro. Would you shave the slant off the back to make it fit or be more the Malibu?

yes but that might make it more thinner where you need to bond it, nd the slant i was refering to is on the bottom it looks like it has a slight arc to it to make i easier to fit on the hood arc......... and the back of it that's how most of them are to suck the air in the back of the scoop

Yeah, it doesn't sit flush on the hood. That's why I was asking if there is anyway to adjust the fiberglass. It has about a 1/4 inch gap on the center of the sides.

thats a pretty good gap to have to fill in it can be done but prob wont last for long if you do that for it will crack over a short time with that much build up, and short of riveting to hood and then forming it around that not telling you what to do but i would find one more suited for the hoods we have.

Back in the day you always slid it up through the bottom of the hood and riveted or dzused it to the skin... If that's what you are planning, remember you have a lot of hood bracing under there.

It comes down about a little over half way from the back of the hood. Would you recommend cutting the hood and bringing it up through, or just mounting it on top? I almost think it should be cut to allow for the air to be able to come into the engine compartment.

Definitely needs to be functional in my opinion...
Some scoops are fully open underneath, some get away with drilling a series of 3 or 4 inch holes in the hood for airflow.

Smoother install puts the flange on the scoop UNDER the skin, meaning up through. That's harder though.

It probably depends most on what you are comfortable with doing... a big square hole through the skin and the bracing will most likely weaken the hood as a hole, meaning your new scoop will have to be a structural part. Mounting it on top would allow you to cut a 14 or 15 inch round hole over your air cleaner and running a KN filter top... meaning less structure goes away.

I think this is honestly a case where you can do a ton of work and end up with a hole in your hood, then decide that you should have started with a scoop that fits the shape.

Either way, best of luck, and don't let me hold you back!
