Has anyone set pinion angle?

I recently bought the adjustable arms posted. I bought them to try to cure (all) of my wheel hop. Has anyone done this? There are instructions but they involve math that is a little beyond me (I guess I was sick that day lol). I plan on installing them tomorrow. (They come set at stock length). Any insite or advice is appreciated. BTW I have a nice pair of aftermarket (non adjustable) upper arms that I will be looking to sell if anyone is interested.

If you get on the Inland Empire Drive Line site, there is info there.
The idea is to have the angle of the pinion the same as the angle of the transmission.
Those little protractors that are available at hardware stores and builder's supply stores, work good for this.

You have the car up where you can get under it to get the angle of the transmission, and set the pinion angle the same.
The little protractors have a 90 degree side also, to put against the pinion flange, to get the angle.
The oil pan on the trans is considered close enough to it's level, to get an angle from.

Optimally to reduce driveshaft vibration, you want the angle of trans to driveshaft equal to the angle between driveshaft and pinion. The lines drawn from the trans tail shaft and pinion should be parallel. For drag race stuff, you want the pinion down slightly to the driveshaft to allow for the pinion to roll up on acceleration.

I was thinking a pinion down (drag racing) set up would be best for Me. The reason being the only issue I have is wheel hop under hard acceleration. Everything else I've tried has helped (relocation brackets, new shocks, frame supports, solid aftermarket arms) but not stopped the hop.

With a stock chassis, your trans and pinion location will put the pinion below the trans. This will allow the pinion to be down to the driveshaft already.

If I remember correctly. The pinion angle should be 2-3 degrees tilted down. With stock length bars your pinion should already be angled down.

Thanks, I just got back from Lowes with a brand new angle finder. $8.98. Just by looking at it it doesn't look to be tilted down, but I'll throw the gauge on it before I do anything. I never knew installing that locker would give me these extra problems. Mad

With the open rear end and two inch lift springs i could do block long (one wheel perl) smokey burnouts...with no hop.

This may be something that doesn't need to be said, but make sure your car is at ride height when you measure everything. Having it up on a Four post lift is ideal, but not everyone has access.
