New-ish Member - 1976 Laguna
Hello Everybody,
I have enjoyed reading the posts and viewing all the pictures. I joined the G3GM Forum last October, but this is my first post. I have had a few 73-77 GM A-bodies over the years. My first was a 1976 Laguna S3 I bought from my brother, who is also a G3GM member, followed by a 1973 Laguna, 1973 cutlass and the two I currently own a rough 1973 Malibu and 1976 Laguna S3. The 76 Laguna S3 is a clean car that was frame off restored in the early 90's when most of the parts were still available from the Chevy dealers. It's not a perfect car but the restoration has held up well over the past 20+ years. It has a 454, 4spd and positraction rear that all came from a very rough, very rusty 1973 SS 454 parts car. Now that this long winter is finally over, I am looking forward to getting the Laguna out for some fun.

Thank you very much. I am eager to get it out again. It needs a good spring cleaning first.

Way Cool Troy! I really like your color combo, wheels, stance & of coarse the 454. Very Nice. What are you running for rear end gears?

Re: New-ish Member - 1976 Laguna
Thanks for all the great comments everyone. I really enjoy looking at the pictures of everyone's cars. This is a great site for a group of under appreciated cars. To answer LSANTI76's question: Right now the car has 3.73 gears in the rear, but that will be changing to either a 2.73 or 2.56 since the 4sp trans I am running now, a wide ratio Borg Warner T-10 has a very low first gear of (3.42). compared to a (2.50) or so that was in the Muncie before. That taller 2.73 to 2.56 rear gear will make the car more highway friendly while the low (3.42) first gear will make it easy to take off from a stop, and the 454 should have no problem powering through the wide gear spacing of the T-10 transmission.

Re: New-ish Member - 1976 Laguna
Here is a picture of the rough 73 Malibu with a 307 that I bought out of a guys barn. You wouldn't guess by looking at it but it has a MINT! non-ac black dash pad, not even one crack, not even through the speaker holes, which is one of the main reasons I bought it." /> It is also kind of interesting because it is a manual steering and manual brake car. It also has a molded plastic piece bolted to the radiator support that blocks about a 1/4-1/3 of the radiator opening because the radiator is so small. Sorry, I forgot to take the for sale sign out of the window. Right now it is serving as a storage bin for any 73-77 parts I have.

A friend of mine at work has a 68 GTO with a T10 4 speed, with a 3.08 he cruises in 4th at 1,200 rpm @70-80 mph. You'll be really happy with that combo!

Re: New-ish Member - 1976 Laguna
I am way over on the west side of the state in the northwest corner, in a small town called Bryan. I have had the Laguna to only a few local shows over the years and the local weekly cruise-in during the summers. The only other show I went to was the "Northern Chevelle Gathering" in Niagara Falls NY in 2004.
