1976 Malibu grille question.
My new Malibu has no grille in it. It's a base model Malibu and from the looks of it it has the 74/75 style grille surround. Does anyone know what should fit? I need to know what I'm looking for. What sucks is that I JUST sold the frontend off a 76 Malibu Classic 4 door I had.

Re: 1976 Malibu grille question.
Pretty sure all 76 coupes & 4 doors came with the same "diamond" pattern plastic grille (except the slant nosed Laguna). I've seen 76 "classics" without the blue bow-tie center emblem on sales literature. Your's might be the grille that had just a bowtie & no Malibu classic emblem on the lower drivers side of the grille.
Does your new car have round headlamps?

I am pretty sure any '74/'77 grille will fit. The "76/'77 are two piece while '74/'75 are one piece (and heavy pot metal).

Re: 1976 Malibu grille question.
The internal braces look to be the same as my 77 (less the part that bolts to the core support behind the center brace). I think however it looks like it will accept the 76 or 77 type grilles that have the stainless piece that surrounds the grille.
I think this brace was standard on 76,77 "Classics" & 4 doors. Yours looks to be one that I think came on 73-75 model years.

Re: 1976 Malibu grille question.
That's kinda what I was thinking. It has the same grille surround as my 74 and the 75 I parted out. I'll have to dig through my parts and see what I can make work.

Re: 1976 Malibu grille question.
That set up looks similar to my '74, but not exact. Mainly the part that holds the hood latch is different. Mine does have the center support as pictured, and the '74 (I can't speak for the '75) does use that center support. I didn't know later years didn't use the center support, but if it will help I will try to post some pics of mine in a little bit.

Heres what my'74 setup looks like. Its all '74 model year (although the grille on the car is a spare from a different '74 that I sandblasted and painted) Note: the speed holes are not OE, neither is the gutted front bumper. lol

Re: 1976 Malibu grille question.
I've found some local parts but no one wants to answer the freaking phone. I called 2 different guys yesterday evening. One has a pair of 74 4 doors he's gonna derby and one guy just has a bunch of parts from a 77.
