1976 Malibu SE ?
I was searching the online listings for Malibu parts etc and found this on Kijiji in Toronto, Canada.
https://www.kijiji.ca/v-classic-cars/city-of-toronto/1-of-1-chevelle-malibu-se-special-edition/1497166738
For starters I thought the SE was a one year only for '77, but the thing that's really curios is the under body picture of the front end.
Anybody know anything about this?

Nothing curious about it to me, there is a reason there are no exterior pics and that reason is that it is not an SE. I'm sure Limey will chime in about this in short order.

I must say the incredibly bad pictures and lack of any real information was a big hint. (I thought it might just be something I didn't know about)
I was more curious about the sideways shock (steering stabilizer?) than anything else. Was this even an option?

Well I learned something today. Thanks Limey.
I always thought that was used on trucks (4x4s / off-roaders) with big wheels to avoid shimmy at highway speeds.

Re: 1976 Malibu SE ?
Its a steering Stabilizer like mentioned more on Monte Carlos due to the much larger nose

It's a shock absorber for the steering linkage. It dampens side-to-side steering shocks and improves steering feel. I believe it was standard on Monte and Grand Prix. You can run without it, but it does make a big difference.
