not the best pic,but i looked right at them for numbers.
Oh, so then walker probably has since discontinued that part since then. These cars seem to be losing more parts that USED to be made for them. I thought a dual exhaust would be easy.

Re: Original Dual exhaust System?
they might have. i know they never made the 454 front pipes.
back in the early 90s i probably bought 6 sets.

Re: Original Dual exhaust System?
I know what you mean. I remember going through the walker catalogs and getting whatever you needed. I took a quick look at the picture listed a few months ago before I had the car, thinking this will be great. Then realized the front part numbers were for the exhaust donuts, not the pipes.

Re: Original Dual exhaust System?
I'm pretty sure walker dosent want to stock anything that they will have such a small demand for. Try summit racing, they should have some performance exhausts, some more wild than others.

It's funny how these companies look at a computer and say "we don't make it and never have". JB

Amen. I got a quote from a local 'custom exhaust' shop for stainless 2.5" dual exhaust for about $400.

Re: Original Dual exhaust System?
On putting the 73-74 exhaust in later cars, does the driver side exhaust manifold need to be changed? I have seen that the 73- 75, have a different part number for the driver side manifold than the 76 does. 76 has a male taper on the exhaust outlet.

Re: Original Dual exhaust System?
For what it's worth for info, I bought a pair of Flowmaster stainless tail pipes for a '72 Chevelle, and the fit my '75 Elco fine. Too short of course, but that's an easy item to add length to. I have two Borla Stainless mufflers on it also.

Re: Original Dual exhaust System?
Anyone who has headers on their car, do they hang down kinda low? If anything ever drags on my car it is the headers.

Nope. I have Doug Thorley tri-Y's -- the collectors take up less space because it's two-into-one instead of four-into-one, so they hang about as low as a stock exhaust. I'll see if I can get a photo or two.

Re: Original Dual exhaust System?
Before I replaced my front springs my long tube hookers would find every speed bump. Since I replaced the springs I've never had a problem.

Original straight six springs still in mine from 1974... Could be part of the issue!

My are Hooker & drivers side header is a bit lower than the passenger side but they do both hang low compared to those tri-y's. Those Thorley's are on my wish list.

Here's a shot of the passenger header from above:
And here's from the side of the car:
They were beautifully triple chrome plated when they were new. That lasted about 12 years or so, then the rust started to show. Still plenty solid, so I just painted 'em with high temp paint.

you should not have to change it if taking it to a shop they will make a pipe longer / shorter to fit it
