drive shaft
I have the drive shaft together for my Elco project. I bought a used GM shaft at a salvage yard, which had the 1330 type ends on it. The 1330 is the same as the flange on my 9" Furd rear from Currie. Then I bought a TH400 yoke from Summit, made by Strange. The yoke has a 1350 type end, so I bought a U-joint from Inland Empire Driveline Service, which is 1330 and 1350, to adapt the shaft to the yoke. I cut the shaft to the length I needed, with 1 inch of travel room at the transmission, and turned a short alignment sleeve for the inside of the welded joint, and it's TIG welded together. I used a scribed line on the side of the shaft tube, to keep the ends in phase when welding it together. It may need to be balanced, but I'll see how it runs...
And I'm 80 years old today, so you young guys know that you can do this stuff for a long time yet !!
