Re: ~~Introduce Yourself~~
Thanks for the compliments. The motor is the original 400 sbc. The short block is rebuilt to stock, with Dart heads (64cc combustion chamber, bumped up the compression ratio to around 10:1-10.5:1 with flat top pistons), Crane Cam, Comp Cams 1:6 rocker arms, Weiand Air Strike intake, 2” 4 hole tapered carb spacer, Demon 750 carb, K&N air filter. Original TH350, rebuilt with trans pack and 2200-2600 stall converter. Eventually I want to put a built 2004R trans in.
Just recently I was diagnosed with a tennis ball size brain tumor. I go back into hospital for further testing on 9-30-13. Surgery to remove it will be around mid October. It hasn’t been scheduled yet. Date will be set after test results are reviewed by surgery team. So, I may not be back on here for some time after 9-30-13. How long depends on how the recovery & therapy goes. The worst part is, I can’t keep working on the rides! (I also have a 1994 pro-street S-10 that needs to go together, wanted to be ready for drag racing in spring)
I just got the floors welded in and interior back in a couple weeks ago (new carpet too)
Here is pics of my 1984 S-10 when I had it together.

Great minds think alike. I did the same thing and I love it.Evil ElCo wrote:Eventually I want to put a built 2004R trans in.
I recently had a friend go through something similar, so you have my thoughts, prayers, and best wishes for a speedy recovery!Evil ElCo wrote:Just recently I was diagnosed with a tennis ball size brain tumor. Re: ~~Introduce Yourself~~
Hope all goes well. FYI (in case you need a more long term treatment plan) Boston is a hub that's world renowned for treatment & surgery in this field- both the Dana Farber & Beth Israel Deaconess hospitals have helped countless people get better.

New to G3GM
Hello All, I'm from Kingman, AZ. I've worked cars of all types most of my life, mostly street rods. I've built my share of (TOYS), some for the 1/8 mile bracket, some for the 1/4 mile. Always had a passion for things that go fast and rumble. Nothing like the rumble of a v8. I just purchased a 77 El Camino Classic. I'm finding that some parts for these are hard to come by, others not so bad. My plan for the Elco is a complete ground up modded restoration. Lots of info here. Thanks.

That pick is just right for most of us here. Are we not all upside down in how much we put into these cars?

You don't want to know what I have spent on this project. And I'm still changing and adding to it.

Re: ~~Introduce Yourself~~
Hello from Texas Y'all. Have referenced this forum many times and now decided to join. Thanks for all the info! I came down with the G3 bug back in the late '70's and it is just getting worse! Unfortunately I have crushed(wrecking yard business in the '90's) or thrashed(dirt track habit in the '80's & '90's) way too many G3's in the past, but have now repented and stepped into the G3 street world. I have purchased of late one of finest '73 Laguna's I have ever come across, so here I am, out of the closet as it were. I have pic's, but just waking up in the 21st century and getting my first iPad last week I've too discovered like allenland2000 above they are upside down. You can see the car in the Wow! Ebay Laguna thread in General Discussion. Regards

Re: ~~Introduce Yourself~~
Hello, I am a retired school bus mechanic from Pikeville, Ky. I have always liked to play with old cars and have a few now. I have a 1979 Buick Regal with 66,000 miles, a 1979 Datsun 280ZX with 28,000 miles, a 1971 Chevelle drag car, and a 2002 Pontiac Trans Am Pro Mod car. I have been looking for my Dads 73 Buick Gran Sport for a little over 3 years now ever since my Mom passed away. After she passed we were cleaning her house and I found my dads billfold with an insurance card in it with the vin number on it. I tracked the car to Detroit and then the trail with cold. I hope to find it in one piece someday but it doesn't look good so I'm looking for a identical car. Thanks
