Re: 73 CHEVELLE SS PICS
Update:
Removed 454 4 speed combo right before the winter and sold them.
Purchased a 1998 camaro ss parts car for the ls1 and 6 speed combo.
6 months later plans have changed again.i ended up building a 350 sb and th350 combo for the 73 and have just started putting the ss back together last weekend.should have it runnimg within the next couple of weeks.
I bought a 70 chevelle project car 2 weeks ago and plan on using the ls1/ 6 speed combo in that.....But who knows i change my mind by the hour

Awesome car, great job.
I got exactly same car except its automatic.
I wish I can find everything to change it to manual.

Update:
I sold the 70 chevelle project.
I drove the 73 this summer with the 350/th350 combo.
I removed the 350/th350 combo last month and sold them.
I started to markup the ls1 6 speed combo into the 73.

That's a nice challenging upgrade. Keep posting on it please! Did you get the computer for the engine also? Would be interested in how that all ties together.

Now theoretically if you where to put a carb on that motor all you would need would be a crank trigger to bypass the computer right

Re: 73 CHEVELLE SS PICS
Mentioning 3 speeds, my dad bought a new 1960 Chevy with the 335 HP, 348 cube, 3 carb engine with a three speed. Most of the twins to his car had a 4 speed. My dad would get beat off the line by the 4 speeds and he would go thru the traps in second gear and beat 'em every time. He ran mid 15s with 95 MPH trap speed. Not bad for a 4200 pound, or more, car. JB

Wow, that is alot of the trans tunnel to cut out.
Curious if you removed the rubber body mounts between the frame / body or if they have deteriorated over time?
I have done a few of these swaps and never had that much of a clearance problem.
I just did a G-body '86 El Camino with a T56 and it had 1/2" between the shifter mount and the tunnel.
There was tons of room and I was ready to hammer on it, but it wasn't necessary.
It will be cool once it's finished.
Thanks -

Re: 73 CHEVELLE SS PICS
Yeah i know, I don't know why it's so close. I think it's because i used the 1 inch set back mounts.
No the body mounts are good.
My buddy has a 67 nova that he did the same swap in and he had the same problem.
Thanks,

Yes i have the harness, fusebox, and ecm.
The harness has to be taken apart and rewired for a stand alone harness.
And the ecm has to be reflashed.
