Re: 73 CHEVELLE SS PICS
update:
I've been working on this like crazy, it doesn't seem to end.
The biggest thing is the wiring and making it all come together, but i'm getting there. here's some recent pics.

Re: 73 CHEVELLE SS PICS
Think about doing this in a few months to my son's Laguna. How much modification was necessary as far as engine mounts?

No headers. I ended up using the factory 98 camaro manifolds.

Re: 73 CHEVELLE SS PICS
I used the factory motor mounts with a set of 1 inch set back adaptors.gpoetx wrote:Think about doing this in a few months to my son's Laguna. How much modification was necessary as far as engine mounts?
I had to notch the frt crossmember on the pass side to clear the pan.

Re: 73 CHEVELLE SS PICS
That body looks laser straight and that is a very tidy transplant.
Where did you hide the ECU?
How does it run?
What did you do to the motor as far as mods?
Thanks -

The ecm is mounted inside uder the heat box on the passenger toe board.
It runs and drives mint.
No mods yet it's bone stock. I'm going to pull it out this winter and go through the engine. heads, cam, intake etc etc. But for now i'm driving the hell out of it.

Re: 73 CHEVELLE SS PICS
What heads, intake and cam are you looking at? You're going to replace those current heads with some 241's or 243's right?
The LS1 I have has a 230/224 .585/.563 111 lsa cam and I just bought a Magic Stick 4 that's a 239/242 .649/.609 113 for my 408.

Re: 73 CHEVELLE SS PICS
.I have a set of 243's allready rebuilt and ready to go.
I bought a weiand intake. I haven't bought the cam yet but i plan on buying a cam from engine power systems to match the heads. I can't remember the specs but i know it's a 112 lsa and i think the lift was around 600.
I tried to load pics but they won't work from my phone.
I ended up buying a 6.0 liter and i going to build that instead of the ls1.

Looks awesome! Sounds good too!
How did you get the tach mounted to the column? and does it spin when putting the car into gear (floor shift)? I need to put a tach in my 76, but I want to make sure I do it right.

Thanks jimi_drix
Big clamp you can buy them at lowes or home depot. looks like a over sized hose clamp.
i cut a notch in the clamp for the ignition switch so i could slide it up past the part that turns.

Re: 73 CHEVELLE SS PICS
I see the engine hoist in the trunk latch area. How did you go about lifting the body. I usually lay a 9' 4x4 on top of the cowl and put some rope around the door hinges on each side. Then a 10' 4x4 slides between the top of the frame and the top of the wheel well. I just have three guys lift at the tail light area and another slides the 4x4 in. Then 2 guys on each side of the wheel well lift and slide some cement blocks or ladders on each side for the 4x4 to rest on.
How did you go about lifting it off? Thanks
