Re: 1977 SE in Wichita,Kansas
Rago are you ready for this in your state that title can be put back on the road after it has been inspected by the state, And he has gotten in touch with the original purchaser that bought that one NEW from the dealership there in Wichita, Kansas and he is tracking down the paperwork needed for both cars he knows the guy from dealership that sold them cars and he remembers who he sold them to.......Even after all these years he is gonna track them down. And the one guy know he has some of the paperwork just a matter of finding it

the parts car was in better shape than the driver but needs 1 quater, both doors, trunk lid and floors. not to leave out eng, trans, wheels and full restoration

Re: 1977 SE in Wichita,Kansas
no his nephew is the one being sentimental ( he was brought home in the car from hospital in it and has a sentimental bond to it ) and wants to keep the driver but he said he would still be willing to sell the parts car to someone who is interested in restoring it and not parting it out

Re: 1977 SE in Wichita,Kansas
ok this is from 74montecarlo AKA Kyle thanks for the extra pics buddy
Some of us older members have all seen most of these pictures, but probably not all together. Recently, I have been saving every picture I find of a '77 Chevelle SE. A few years ago, there was a pretty decent white one on eBay, and I could kick myself for not saving the pictures. It was in nice shape - a lot nicer than these silver ones. Anywho, I though this might make a good reference thread. Sticky it if you wish. I tried to group(number) them together to keep them in order of the car itself.

Re: 1977 SE in Wichita,Kansas
Come on guys, this is a dealer installed package. So what if there is no paperwork. You could install the SE 'dealer installed' components on any nice Malibu Classic from 1977 with a repo decal kit then have a wicked car.
Any pictures of the one for a grand? If the seller will provide a bill of sale, and the car has the key SE components on it, I am interested.
Thanks -
Jerry

'77 Chevelle SE pictures.

Kyle, that white one that you speak of is the one in my hometown. The guy never got what he wanted from it so he kept it. He told me he would sell it & another SE parts car for $19,000. It's very nice, but he doesn't have the original wheels on it. They are some goofy looking mid 90's AR or Eagle Alloys. Next time I see it in town & I have a camera I will take some pics.
Thank you for compiling all of the pictures. I don't think I've seen the black ones before.

Re: 1977 SE in Wichita,Kansas
Jerry, the problem with reproducing a "fake SE" is that no one currently makes three vital components.
1) Graphics
2) Front air dam
3) Rear spoiler
I realize you could modify a Z28 rear spoiler to work, but it doesn't look quite the same. The graphics could likely be reproduced by someone with a lot of stock pictures & some talent. The front air dam I don't know about though.
Here are pics of the $1,000 one with no title.

Re: 1977 SE in Wichita,Kansas
I don't really see it as fake. It's undocumented.
How is it any different than putting a cowl induction hood on a base '70 Chevelle, or RS stripes on a '68 Camaro? Does it lower the value or discount the car? No.
Hell, I'd like to have that rear spoiler for my '77. Not because it is rare, because it would look cool.
And I am not sure what 'documentation' would be provided with a dealer installed option. Typically, the dealer has an addtional list stuck next to the window sticker when it's on the lot, or its itemized on the bill of sale. How many people with g3s have the original bill of sale or the window sticker? I am sure there are real "SE" Chevelles out there without any of these documents. Are they considered fake since the pedigree can't be verified? No.
What is my point? If there is value in some option, and people can make money from it, those options will find there way on easily restored cars. And unfortunately, it is nearly impossible to verify.
So, would that guy sell me the rear spoiler from that silver car?
Thanks -
Jerry

Me
Anywho, I see what you mean Jerry. These 77 SE's are so rare an obscure, and none of the parts that make them different from a run of the mill 77 Chevelle are available aftermarket, so they're kind of hard to fake. I love original documentation. Both of my cars have an extensive amount of it. But, that would not break the deal for me. If I ever had the chance to snatch one of these up, I'd take it in a heartbeat.

Well, here is your opportunity. Get a trailer, a grand in cash, and it's all yours to love and enjoy in Kansas.
I am not talking about faking anyting. I am saying remove the rare parts from a salvage car and install them on a nice car.
Thanks -
Jerry

Re: 1977 SE in Wichita,Kansas
I live in Wichita, Ks and have a Black SE it has the Turbine wheels, window louvers, and rear spoiler, there no stripes on it, it has the maroon interior with swivel buckets, console and shifter, and a 305 cu.in. I can be contacted at xxx xxx xxxx, or at xxxxxxx@xxxx.com
Mitch Capps
Got this in an Email this morning so I figured I'd post it. To the owner of this car, please sign up & tell us more! I do have the phone number & email for this, just didn't want to post it publicly.

I was thinking about taking the wing off mine, and having a local fiberglass guy I know make some reproductions.
Anyone have pictures of the front air dam

Somewhere on the site there's another thread with a picture of one, but I can't seem to find it. There's two that are local to me though. Next time that I see the guy driving one around, I'll try to get pics.
