New member from Kansas
I would like to introduce myself. My name is Mark and my current G3 is a 1977 El Camino classic. I'm the 3rd owner and have owned it since 2000. It is 2-tone blue with 30,000 original mile. Except for the wheels and some chrome under the hood it is all original. This 77 is almost an identical to my first car, that I sold in 1987. I drove the first one all through high school, but thought I needed a 1986 Monte SS after graduation. Loved the Monte, but always missed the El Camino. When my girlfriend(wife) was looking for her first car, I helped her find a 1974 Malibu Classic. She drove it through high school also. I had plans for the old Malibu, but the rust got the better it. We sold it in 1992. I have enjoyed this sight for awhile and I thought that it is about time that I get involved. Thanks

Glad you decided to join us, Mark! It's a great community of like-minded enthusiasts for these cars. Look forward to hearing more about how that Elkie survived all these years with only 30K miles on her. Now, all you need to do is get your wife back into a '74 Malibu and all will be right in your household...lol!

Re: New member from Kansas
I have talked to both of the previous owners. The first owner had it until 2000 and kept it in the garage all of its life. At some point in the 80's his son turned it into a show car. Then there were some conflicts of interest in the family and dad took the car back and stored it away for many years. Owner number two was a home remodeler working at the first owners home. He saw the car and talked him into selling it. After he got it home he was not sure that it was the car that he really wanted. He decided to test the waters and put a for sale sign in it at a local car show. Just so happens that I had taken my family out that day to enjoy the show. I saw it as walked into the parking lot. Did not even go to the rest of the show. Bought it later that day. It had 28,000 miles then and today has just over 30,000. Here are some pictures of all 3 of my G3's.

Re: New member from Kansas
That has to be one of the nicest El Caminos I've seen ! I bought a '77 new, and had it for 32 years, until the rust finally got it.
A guy I worked with had one like yours...same color..
And......my '74 Malibu was identical to yours, before I restored it & removed the vinyl top & changed the color.
Welcome to the fun !!

KC77monte... I'm in Shawnee. You should bring your monte to the Shawnee car show on Sunday. It's downtown on Johnson dr.

Are you entering your monte in the Merriam show or just walking through it?
