Re: Decision Making Disorder
Hey Monte, do you think either of these would work?
Also wondering if either of those styles that you got have inserts that could be changed out like this:
I'm thinking outside of the box to keep people guessing. At least that's what I plan to do.

Re: Decision Making Disorder
I've been checking out the center emblems, and there are some available that have the SS, bowtie etc, but the vette centers are 2 1/8 inches and most of the others are either 2 or 2 1/4. probably would work, but i think i'll just go with the flags.
Best bet so far looks like Willcox Corvette, which was a link you shot me on ebay, but they also have a site with some discounts.

The caps look better with a decal that goes from edge to edge.(flag or chevrolet)
If I did not have the flag on my steering wheel,I would of bought the monte centers.

Re: Decision Making Disorder
I would defintely go with the Knights if I had a Monte. That armored helmet is just too cool. I'm a little jealous.
Could you modify one of the caps to replace the steering wheel center? Cut one out and 3M it? That would be NNNNAAASSSTTTY.

Here's a Malibu insert:

Still not a Laguna insert, but closer.

Re: Decision Making Disorder
Oh yeah, if there were a big S3 insert, I'd use it. I like the flags okay though, after all, older chevelles used crossed flag emblems, so it sorta works.
Shame about the helmet ctrs being too big. Could you fab up something out of a dash or grill emblem?

Roadcaptain S3 wrote:Going with the vette centers for the moment, I got three fair caps and a really crappy one with the wheels, the flags are kinda faded on the fair ones and the fourth one is faded worse and cracked.
Gonna order the lugs here in just a few.
Also gotta touch up the satin black paint in the center and around some of the slots. Bought a couple of those narrow sponge paintbrushes and some masking tape today, get that done, shoot the clear, mount 'em up and i'm zoomin'
did you go to that place and get your centers and lug nuts?
how are the other 2 wheels coming along?

Re: Decision Making Disorder
Yes-went to a place called Willcox Corvette over in Jeffersonville IN, picked up new centers, the black caps with chrome trim and all new lugs for $65 bucks total. saved about 35 dollars picking them up.
All four are raedy to go minus paint. Have repainted the centers on the wheels in a satin black, am waiting to clear coat 'em. Was looking at this Eastwood stuff called Sharkhide. Claims you can just wipe it on and let it dry and it should protect the wheels for 3-5years, but it's like 50 bucks for a can of it-I'll pass.

Re: Decision Making Disorder
Painted 2 of them with duplicolor clear wheel paint, came out looking like crap. Dulled the shine badly.
Stripped again, re-polished, taking them to a friend who paints cars, aand he says the next car he does, he'll shoot 'em for me free.
Trying to decide on tires, probably BF G, radial TAs, 255/60 15 up front, 275 out back, black wall out.
Whadda ya think?

I put blackwalls on mine and it did not look right.Maybe it was to much black.
255-60 on front and 275-60 on the rear
So when I bought new tires,I put the raised white back out and to me looked better.
275-60 on all 4 corners

Re: Decision Making Disorder
The white looks better on your car, I agree wuth the "too much black" theory.
I'm thinking the opposite cuz mine is all white with the black body stripes. If i hate it, i can always flip 'em around. plus, my wheel centers and caps are blacked out, where yours is polished. might make a difference.
I'm going with that tire combo as well, I think.
Should drop the front end about an inch lower than the rear, it should give it a little tiny rake.

Re: Decision Making Disorder
I just bought another set of wheels,I am thinking of putting them on my 86 caprice. It is white with white top and maroon interior. So I might go blackwalls on that.
and the test fit blackwall looked ok.

Re: Decision Making Disorder
Yeah, that looks good. Would probably look like that against the white on the laguna.
If this keeps up, between the three of us, we'll own every C3 wheel in the country.

I found these by accident, the guy was 30 minutes from my house and paid only 200 for 4 wheels,4 caps, and about 16 lugs.
wheels need a good cleaning/polish
nuts are rusty
caps need a good cleaning and emblems (was thinking of just painting the caps white and leaving the chrome lip by the emblem)
