KC car shows?
Anyone from the Kansas City area planning on attending any local shows this fall?

Re: KC car shows?
Good question. There was one at the Silverstine Arena yesterday but it rained. There's one in Blue Springs the second weekend of October, but I don't think it's very big. Are their any that you know of? I wouldn't mind a bit of a drive either.

Re: KC car shows?
I normally have stayed on the Kansas side. The only one left this year that I would recommend is the Basehor High school show on September 30. It normally has around 300 cars, but that's quite a drive from the Missouri side. I get most of my show info from the Mid America Chevelle web site.

KCI Cruise in - Sept 23 from 3-8pm. Usually a big car show with 300 or so cars. I'm planning to go.
Ambassador Building at KCI
12200 NW Ambassador Drive, Kansas City, MO 64157
Former WireCo and Farmland Building East of KCI & I-29
Exit to right at Exit 13. Right on Cookingham. Look for 5-story office building on North side of road. Follow "Car Show" signs.

Thinking about hitting the Piper High School show the 30th, then maybe hit the Turner Days show again on Oct 15th

Re: KC car shows?
Kenny, have you been to the Piper show before, I have not. The Turner show could be a good show for all of us to get together. There is normally a lot of space in the grass to park side by side. Don't you normally attend with some other friends?

Re: KC car shows?
No I have not. We went to Basehor last year, thought I would give Piper a shot this year. I like the Turner Days idea, maybe a chance for some of us local guys to meet up, should be there with my Brother in-law. Heck the more the merrier. Podor, here's a good site to get show info from.

Re: KC car shows?
Podor & TW Monte, do you think that the Turner Days show might work for you guys. Turner Days is a weekend of activities centered around the community and their schools. It is a small area in southern Kansas City Kansas, just north of Shawnee. It has easy access from 635 or I-35. I would guess that normally there are around 200 cars there.

Re: KC car shows?
I'm not sure about making it to Turner Days yet. My daughter is turning 16 that week & I believe she's wanting to do family get together on the weekend. (Of course, you know how teen girls change their minds every 15 minutes.)

Re: KC car shows?
I'd love to, but Sundays are pretty crazy for us. The Piper one sounds fun. My 7 year old is wanting to go to shows with me. It sounds like there would be some stuff to keep him occupied for part of the time.

I'm good with the Piper show only suggested Turner because I've been there before.

Re: KC car shows?
@77camino - LOL, I don't think so! She's gonna have to drive the Cutlass Supreme I already have. I had to sell one of my 1973 Monte Carlos a month ago to "thin the herd" and raise some funds to help with projects I want to do on the 73 Monte Carlo that I kept.

Back in the day Turner Days was the place to be. If you lived in Turner or had kids in any of the Turner schools, that's where you were that weekend. They have a parade on Saturday morning followed with all the booths down behind the High school, which is now a middle school. I believe at one time they use to have tractor pulls as well. As with most things as time goes by things change and the event has really gone down hill. Last year was the first time I have been back and was really shocked by how far it's gone down. The car show is now the highlight of the weekend

Re: KC car shows?
Just checking on who is planning on attending the Piper car show? Would we all want to meet somewhere near Kansas Speedway, so we can arrive together? It is only about 5 miles north of the speedway.

I'm about 90% yes. I'll probably bring at least one of my kiddos.

Count me in as well. I'm just 5 minutes east of the speedway so that works for me.

Re: KC car shows?
Kenny, you are the closest, any suggestions on where to meet at Saturday morning? Also the shows opens at 8:00, what would be a good time for everyone?

Re: KC car shows?
There's a Walmart on Parallel Parkway that's about 10 minutes from the school that would be a good place to meet. There is a Sams gas station there too in case you would need gas. If your coming 435 take the Parallel Parkway West exit. As far as time, I'm open to whatever. I will PM you my number just in case you need to get a hold of me.

You're talking about the Walmart across from the Legends, right? I'm good with that. I'm about 35 minutes from there.
