73 SS with chrome side molding
Anybody ever seen a 73 SS with vinyl top and chrome side molding before?

IIRC the only 73 Chevelle I ever seen with Vinyl is the Laguna version it has the lower rocker trim and Vinyl top

Re: 73 SS with chrome side molding
Not sure about the vinyl top, but the GM Parts Manual specifically states the front wheel opening moldings for SS models are the longer version...which would imply they all came without lower rocker moldings.

Re: 73 SS with chrome side molding
I've never seen an SS with rocker mouldings. Unless it was a "clone". According to GM Heritage center, the SS package had an automatic delete for rocker moulding and wheel well trim when the SS option was ordered.
I owned an SS with a vinyl top and no rocker moulding.
And I owned (6) 73 chevelles (non-SS) with a vinyl top.
Heres a pic of one of them.

Re: 73 SS with chrome side molding
I believe you are correct about the wheel opening moldings. Upon closer review, the Parts Manual seems to be referring to the El Camino SS...which would normally share the same moldings on std models.

Joe,
Im not sure on the color, that pic was taken back in '87-'88 as it came from the factory.

I like it. It looks like a lighter brown color. I had an SS that was the dark brown. Looks great.

It was actually green or dark olive green, seemed to have a hint of gold in it too.
