Weatherstripping advice
So I am at the point of installing weatherstripping and I was looking over what I have. I see how the roof rail w/s fits into metal pieces that screw onto the car. Is there a trick or technique to installing this w/s properly? Kinda looks like I mount the metal strips to the car with screws and w/s adhesive behind it. Then the w/s gets more adhesive and some how gets pushed into this metal strip. This is where I am unsure of the easiest way to do it? Any advice from those who have done it?

The metal pieces get screwed to the car with this under them as a sealant. http://www.ebay.com/itm/201033833139?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
Then the weatherstrip just gets pushed into the grooves. I use a credit card or a wood paint stick to push it in. Pretty easy actually.

Is it easier to insert one side or the other of the weatherstripping ? Almost looks like the outside should go in first and push in the inside edge last.

Use some soapy water as well, it'll slip in like a champ. Like you said slip one edge in first and work the opposite side in with a credit card or plastic bone.

Does the weatherstripping get adhesive to hold it into the metal strip? It looks like it should but wouldn't the soapy water affect this?

Re: Weatherstripping advice
I know they used adhesive at the factory. I installed some NOS w/strips this summer and the fit was so good that I didn't bother with the adhesive. It holds just fine...but, have to admit there was a method to my madness as I wanted them to be removable when time came to paint the car.

Re: Weatherstripping advice
There was adhesive from the factory, similar to 3M weatherstrip adhesive. As long as you're not drowning your car with soapy water, couple drops diluted in a spray bottle is sufficient, again you're just spritzing the weatherstrip, not hosing it down. I fail to understand that the w/s won't go into the channel easily, hook one end in , and even using your thumb should force the rest into the groove. The use of the W/S adhesive will prevent the w/s from getting pulled down by the glass on a hot day.

It may go into the track easily. I haven't begun to install these yet. Just looking for a heads up.
I just finished the vinyl top around the skyroof and installed that w/s. Now I just have to wait for the foam tape that was mentioned above. Then these pieces go on.
