Nameplate History & Halloween Ready

I love following the lineage of nameplates, particularly when the history is so varied!
The Mercury Cougar was a relative of the Mustang, Elite & Thunderbird:

Raining here, so may not see many trick-or-treaters; will see my Nephew & Niece later.
Anyone cloak vehicle(s) in costumes? Mustang, ready for Halloween:

Re: Nameplate History & Halloween Ready
I had an 83 Cougar back in the late 80s. I loved that thing. What I remember most is how quick it was. It was a V6 and I regularly blew the doors off of earlier V8 cars, believe it or not.
Ford has always been weird about how they name cars. T-bird/cougar is the perfect example. From a two seater vette-ish car to a coupe back to a two seater. Cougar started as a Mustang to a T-bird to a fake japanese import.
Or a fairlane/galaxie/LTD/Crown Vic, all of the different names applying to the same cars over the years. Some years as a trim level of one model to a stand alone name of what had been the previous model.
You probably could have owned a Ford Galaxie Fairlane Crown Victoria LTD sometime in the 70s. (Almost like having a 1977 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu Classic)
Gooooooofy.

LOL ... yes, definitely goofy, Bobby!
Don't know if you saw this article I wrote about that topic:
"Stop Re-Naming My Car!"

I believe it about the '83 Cougar ... had a friend who had one who did the same thing to V8s ... LOL.

Re: Nameplate History & Halloween Ready
Good read.
US manufacturers lost their way big time 70s-90s. Junk cars, wacky names.

I had a buddy with an 87-ish XR-7. It was badass. Burgundy, 5.0 with the Mustang GT turbine type wheels on it. I still wish I could come across one.

Re: Nameplate History & Halloween Ready
Looked more like a Monte wih the more formal roof line and I like the top treatment most of them had. I wanted triple black with gold emblems and cloth top. I would have gotten white with blue or red as well. They were all over back then too my friend had white with grey leather xr7 about a 95 with a v8
