Monte Carlo driveshaft > El Camino?
Got a monte carlo driveshaft, not sure what year but I know it is 73-77. The El Camino is a 73. I am told Monte Carlo driveshafts are longer than 2dr Chevelles. The driveshaft in the El Camino recently dropped and banged around, after replacing the u joint in the back, it has very bad vibration. Nothing changed but the condition of the driveshaft so I am going to change that. Will the monte carlo shaft I have fit in the elc? Thanks in advance

Re: Monte Carlo driveshaft > El Camino?
According to the service manual that I have, the Monte wheel base is the same as the '73-'77 El Camino, which ia 116 inches. The station, 4-door sedan are also 116 inches. The Coupe is the odd one, with 112 inch wheel base.
I would be inclined to think the drive shaft of the Monte would fit the Elco.
Get out your tape ruler & measure both.......

I'd like to know the same thing about a Chevelle coupe and a Camino. I am putting the motor from my Elcy in my Malibu and I'm thinking I'll have to take 4" off the shaft for it to fit.

Re: Monte Carlo driveshaft > El Camino?
Just get a driveshaft from a 2 door 73-77 Chevelle, that way you won't have to have your camino one shortened.

Pretty sure shipping would kill for those to get to Georgia.
