Re: Sound systems
Stock radio still works in the 77!
I'm trying to figure out a way to run my MP3 to the rear, but keep the stock radio working through the front speakers.
I truly hate modern aftermarket set-ups. They always sound like crap to me. The speakers are always too tinny sounding, even with and EQ.

Re: Sound systems
I won't have a traditional radio in the Malibu when its done, everything will run off of my phone.
My dad bought a 1979 Thunderbird brand new and he still has it. I think it has around 90K miles. He had the seats redone last year and over the winter had some paint touch ups on the original paint, which looks good.

Re: Sound systems
i have a Kenwood model 2006. It was bought new by my brother in about 1995. It is a nice digital, shaft style cassette player that fits in the stock opening. At the time of purchase i was told they were phasing out cassette players...that turned out to be true.

Re: Sound systems
I've got the original am radio in the dash (worked when I disconnected it) and have a Kenwood CD player in the glove box. Nothing fancy, I like the sound of exhaust when I drive. Not to mention I couldn't bring my self to cut a hole in the dash for the Kenwood.

Re: Sound systems
I think I still have my old 8 track some where and it worked when I took it out in '96 or so. I used to use an 8 track cassette adapter with a cassette adapter for a disc man to play through the radio. I installed an Alpine CD player in place of the 8 track.
My plan is to have a small screen where the radio goes which will be hooked up to my phone via HDMI and the audio outs going to a driver/amp. I'm thinking of making some fiberglass speaker holders for under the dash and add some speakers under the back deck with subs in the trunk with a beauty board to clean it up. Of course this plan is still a year a way from being started on so who know what new technology I can implement for a sound system.

Re: Sound systems
I'll be installing my Kenwood KRC-2004. I have a Scosche cassette adapter that can plug into my MP3 player. Or I might just go with a an FM transmitter like I use in my lesabre. Had good luck with them.

Joe73 wrote:"High treble speakers" Â I can relate to that.
Circa '88 I had a Pioneer head unit with REALLY tinny Jensen 6x9s...No EQ, no base. I can remember getting out of the car and my ears would squeal for 30 minutes.
Huh? What?
