Ignition trubbas Empty Ignition trubbas

I'm swapping the columns, I've got a tilt floor shift column from a Monte (I think) and I don't have a key for it.

Isn't there a way to remove the ignition cylinder from the column without the key?

That thread looks good to me. All you really need is a lock plate tool to make the job easy. I would suggest going a bit further and making sure the tilt mechanism is locktited so you don't end up with a wobbly steering wheel. Going that far requires another specialty tool to remove the hinge pins.

Aye,aye Cap'n! It was a royal bitch but I "got'er dun".Not sure about the tilt steering column as mine is standard,but I know one thing for sure is it is a job for the calm,patient man so I would not advise caffeine for that day.lol!!

BTW I posted a follow-up on that old thread today.I'm happy to be done with that project,it was quite the ornery critter trying to get the cylinder to finally release.
