Attaching Throttle Cable to Carb
I need some help figuring out how to hook my throttle cable to my carb. The car is a '77 and the carb is an eddlebrock, I think its 1406 series. What bolt and hole is best to use?

Re: Attaching Throttle Cable to Carb
I'm not 100% but I think it's the top hole on the throttle linkage. Should be same or very similar to the original carb linkage if it was originally a 4bbl.If you extend the cable out all the way and see where it lines up on the linkage that should tell you. Just make sure when you put the peddle all the way down that it opens the throttle up all the way. have someone hold the peddle down (car off obviously ) and check to see if you can open throttle any more.

I don't remember excatly how the old one was attached it was a rochester carb. This thread has them attached a few different ways. I'm not sure which stud to get.

Re: Attaching Throttle Cable to Carb
You just have them reversed. The trans kick-down cable goes on the inside & the accelerator goes on the outside & gets used with the small C-clip. This is what they should look like, hopefully you have them both on your throttle.

Re: Attaching Throttle Cable to Carb
Forgot to ask, is that cable for a TH350 or TH400?

This is the thread I meant to link before

That makes sense, thanks for the links. Its a TH350. My brother is hooking it up for me so I will let him know to switch the cables.

Re: Attaching Throttle Cable to Carb
No problem. Â I just noticed you have an Edelrock not a Holley (LOL) but it s/b the same in any case including an adapter for a 700r4 from either manufacturer. Â Make sure he installs the throttle return springs also. Â This is how they went on my Q-jet. Â The Edelbrock s/b very similar installation.

Re: Attaching Throttle Cable to Carb
oops. sorry didn't see your pic earlier. I was at work (shhhhh) and can't view the pics. Looks like you got all the info you needed though. On that link you posted I think the second from the bottom ("Billa") pic is how your throttle looks like it should be connected.

Re: Attaching Throttle Cable to Carb
Awesome! I will probably have to order new adapters, I'm not sure where the old ones went.
Don't worry Old School, if I wasn't on here at work I wouldn't get to read all the info or search for how-to's I am looking for.
