door striker color
On the classic oldsmobile forum I am on the question came up about what color the door striker was originally. The car in question is a '76 cutlass. He believes they were not body color originally, i seem to remember all the '70's (GM) cars we had the striker was body color. My '74 was b/c but had been repainted. So does anyone know, or is this one of those things that depends on where it was built (or which shift, etc.)? Below is my '60 dynamic 88 sedan

Re: door striker color
My '77 Monte wears it's original paint (red) and the strikers are body colored. Just pulled a set off a '75 Monte that still had the plastic sleeves on them and they were body colored. I've paid attention to these here and there...but, not enough to declare positively that every model came this way. But, if I were a betting man, I'd say they did.

That's what I thought, he seems to be convinced otherwise.

Re: door striker color
Well...if it's that important to that guy for accuracy on a restoration, tell him I've got access to at least 20 Cutlasses of this generation in which to confirm. But, if all he's doing is debating this for the sake of argument, I've got better things to do while I'm out at the yards.
By the way, that's a sweet looking Dynamic 88 you've got! My dad was always an Olds man and he owned his share of Dynamic 88's back then.

Don't bother, I just wanted confirmation that I was right.

LOL
Even though you're correct John- I'm sure you'll never get the satisfaction of an admission of that fact. Some people just love to argue for the sake of it and even when they're wrong- they're right. My kids come to mind actually.

Re: door striker color
Too bad... can't see the dudes green 76 on the links. I doubt that the strikers were ever unpainted but I suppose anything may be possible w/ our cars. GM was a bit loosey goosey in the 70's & Olds did sell a Sh!t pile of Cutlass' in 76 & 77.
