PM G3nut. Haven't seen him around here in a bit but if he does not answer I can give him a call for you. He's done a bunch of Chevelle Restos and all of them have been vinyl tops.
My own opinion FWIW (not much, lol) leave it be. I think your Monte looks great.

It's not for me Mali . A car of a guy I worked with . We might tackle it if we are confident enough

Can't imagine it's that difficult. Like hanging wallpaper...measure twice (no...better make that three times!) and trim.

Re: Anyone installed a vinyl top
look up some you tube videos on it. Its the glue part that sucks its contact cement your dealing with. Make sure you get the sprayable cement made for landu and vinyl tops. " />
You will need two people if you have never done one before.
Just for the record I DON'T DO THEM. I have helped before and never again.

Re: Anyone installed a vinyl top
If you choose the typical black "Levant" vinyl, I purchased a couple yards to try out on various things. I bought mine from these folks- matched Mali's original top for grain & color & I think their prices are very good. Lot's of other selections too. Ask for a sample before you order anything & x2 on Wally's recommendation for adhesive.

Its do-able.
Dry fit the top first and make match or line up marks Spray glue on roof and on back of top, after it's flashed off Just get some plastic and fold it over in half one section to front of car and one to back of car. Then lay the top sprayed with glue on top of both sections of plastic. This way it wont stick on you. start in center of roof Then roll a little out at a time while lining up seam line and match marks tell you get to back and front. pull it just enough as you lay it down to get wrinkles out. Then press it all down good. Care full not to slice into paint when trimming off
