Door hinges are done... And the bolts, I forgot that there are 24 of em!

Just stretch some black electrical tape over the hex heads prior to the install.

For the hinges and bolts I use a single stage catalyzed urethane, more durable for bolts especially and things that articulate. Plus once installed you can easily brush touch any chips that may occur. This isn't going to be a show car by any means, so scratches and such are going to be okay with me. The electrical tape is a great idea too!
Normally I would hang the doors and align them to the body then leave the hinges in place and spray them with the pillars, however, doing things a little different this time. Stuff will get scratched, but it won't be a big deal.

I HATE sandblasting.  I own two sandblasters  but will take any opportunity to pay to have parts blasted.

I have a blast cabinet so it's just tedious work, the worst is the pressure blaster, I hate getting covered in sand. I think the only thing I have to do with the pressure blaster are my Hedders.

I have two blast cabinets to use, one medium & one big one. Â Like most folks, I really hate blasting big stuff outside, even though I have bonnet to protect my hard head !
 Header will fit in the bigger cabinet, but still a pain to get them done in there.
When I started my Elco project, I had a guy come over with a big blasting outfit to do my body while on the rotisserie. He blasted everything except the finish paint panels...
 I wasn't about to tackle that job.

That would be the way to go in that instance! Perfect time and be able to get to every area on the car with the rotisserie. Definitely worth it to hire someone in that instance.

I saw on "muscle car" where they had a body blasted and had powder coat primer installed at the same place. That would be the ultimate way to go.

That would be awesome! I have a limited budget, so have to do everything myself to save cash. Plus I just want to be able to enjoy driving the car, rather than working on it making perfect. But that would be the ideal way to go about doing it, be 100 percent then.

I was just looking at this pic and thought how cool this would be to leave the tailgate off and finish the inside to make it look like it was made that way. Then put in a brush guard or round bar removable gate on the inside, maybe set back a few inches in the bed.

what did that cost to have it blasted, I don't have a rotisserie but I'm also not wanting to sit for 5 days to blast the whole thing when I'm done with metal repair. Contemplating if I would have enough money to take it to the one place I had the frame dipped. frame and the core support cost 630 for that, can't even guess how much for the whole body.

Good eye Limey! Yeah they were made by Flowmaster back in the early 90's. They make it sound awesome. 3" exhaust on the street is loud!

Are these body mounts in the correct location?

Ready to drop the body back down, just want to make sure the mounts are in the correct locations
These are at the rear if the frame

The body will be going back down onto the frame this weekend, and hopefully the motor will go back in too ....if we have time! Can't wait.. Been years!

Getting it back together

Well this Saturday a friend of mine came over and in less than two hours we got the body down on the frame, and the motor in place. Back together, somewhat, after 5 years of being off the frame. Will start cutting the quarters off and installing new ones. One step closer!
