Re: 76 laguna
I'm familliar with the non a/c box, I put my msd box right above it. My '74 even has manual brakes, good for big cams & weight savings. (not so great for stopping lol)

Re: 76 laguna
My 75 Malibu had manual brakes, that was scary at times! I routed my MSD box inside under the dash.

Re: 76 laguna
Awesome. I need a garage, lift, rotisserie, sand blaster and good compressor.

X2!
When are those from? Â Judging by the green grass, those are not recent. Â
Where are you in the process now?

Re: 76 laguna
Thanks, took a lot of effort to get to this stage, hopefully get the body back on the frame this summer. It's nice having the equipment too, my wife actually bought me a big compressor, and a blast cabinet. A garage is great too, just expensive to heat in the winter. It's attached to the house so it can be as warm or cool(in the summer) as I need it to be. unfortunately, even a two car garage is never big enough!

Re: 76 laguna
Painted it last fall, running new brake lines now, and the frame will be done!

Re: 76 laguna
Being a '76, you have the 11 inch rear brakes instead of the 9.5 inch.
Nice job on that  Â

Re: 76 laguna
My 76 came with the smaller 9 1/2 drums, not sure if somewhere along its life someone blew up the original rear end.pila wrote:Being a '76, you have the 11 inch rear brakes instead of the 9.5 inch.

I swapped in a spare rear end out if a 75 Monte Carlo that had the 11" drums

Re: 76 laguna
Rusted floors seem to be common. Some folks don't close the windows all the time, and if the carpet gets wet very much, the floor is history.

Re: 76 laguna
Leaks in windows all around front and rear also and no one knows as water runs down and sits under carpet. Vinyl tops cars are the worst. When you gut out a car start looking at bottom corners in rear section odds are you will see water spots or water trail running down to back seat floor area.

Re: 76 laguna
El Caminos are notorious for leaks, on the body seam behind the seat, and the rear window. Some leak, and the rest will too ! Â

Re: 76 laguna
Water collects in most Elkies in the front Right corner of the bed and the seam sealer on the smuggler's box lid will then leak. JB

Re: 76 laguna
Good progress this Sunday, got the brake lines routed, flared and painted. I cleaned up the underside of the body, and tapped all the mount holes. Had two broken body mount bolts to remove. Now it's ready for some black bedliner. Going to order my body mount bushing kit from Ground Up. Be ready to set the body back down on the frame... Hopefully by June.
