[FS] 8.5" 10-bolt posi differential
I have a 8.5" corporate 10-bolt 3.08:1 posi differential out of a 1988 Caprice 9C1 (cop car). It has 126,000 KM (78,300 miles). It is in very good shape and has the EATON clutch style posi in it, not the crappy non-rebuildable Auburn that GM used from 1989 and onwards. Axles are 28 spline. Has 11" drum (wagon) brake backing plates on it currently, but does not come with drums. Wheel bolt pattern is 5x5. This is a direct bolt in from what I am told for '73-77 A-bodies.
$300.

no they don't you are right BUT they can be re drilled for 4.75 Small chevy and yes they are a direct bolt in rear with mod needed to only the Park Brake bracket, And that's a steal at that price if in good shapepila wrote:A bodies don't have the 5 X 5 wheel lug spacing....

Pulling the axles & getting them re-drilled should be easy enough if there's a place locally to do it.

Re: [FS] 8.5" 10-bolt posi differential
Does anyone know, are the axles different besides the bolt pattern (5x5)?
Is it possible to transfer the older axles over (73-77- A body - 4.75) to this rear, both should be 28 spline?
I'm looking for a posi myself, this ones a great deal but way too far away from the Northeast.

I have a stock G3 8.5" posi rear, so it has the 5 x 4.75" spacing, but my front spindles are from a 93 Caprice, which uses a 5 x 5" rotor. Â The wheels are all 5 x 5.5", so I run adapters at all four corners, but they're obviously different front to back. Â Since the wheels have 6" backspacing, the adapters also help locate them properly in the wells. Â Been running it this way (and lightin' them up) for ~5 years now with no problems.

Re: [FS] 8.5" 10-bolt posi differential
Yes axles can be redrilled or new axles ordered with correct bolt pattern. If you are running the B-body spindle you can convert the whole car to 5x5, which is the way to go in my opinion because you can then run factory rear disc brakes (bolt ons). You can also get a 88-93 F-body "1LE" rotor (GM #18027886) for the B-body spindle that is 12" in diameter and 4.75x5 bolt pattern.
