trouble removing the dash bezel
My bezel is not free even though I think I got all of the screws. It seems stuck in two places- middle top, just to the left and just to the right. Can someone help, Please?

Sure you got all five screws out from upper edge on that center part? Remember to pull the clock knob? Use a small screwdriver and gently pry down and out on that upper edge. I always have a small tack puller for prying in these kinds of situations.

Re: trouble removing the dash bezel
I might have missed the fifth, where is it? I didn't see any in the middle. I can pull the top far enough out to see the two hex heads behind the speedo and the tach. Far enough to lose every socket I stick in there! I don't know why I'd have to remove those, but they seem to be attached to the bezel.

Re: trouble removing the dash bezel
In the center, there are three screws along the very upper lip. Then, there are two more right below those where the bezel lip kind of steps down. But, if you can pull the top back far enough to see behind, then you must have all those out. Don't forget there are two more in the middle of the bezel below and either side of each of the two large gauges. Oh...and two more below those at the bottom and either side of the steering column cutout. Is it hanging up at the bottom...on the steering column? Oftentimes, I lower the column to allow extra clearance to safely remove it without forcing it.

Interesting...'74 and up bezels have two extra mtg screws along the very top. Looks like you got them all. There's nothing else that should be holding it on there. Is it catching the dash pad along the edges?

Re: trouble removing the dash bezel
Thanks, guys. I'm going out to check. I think I missed the two in the corners above the speedo and tach. I'll let you know.

IDK...my other is a sweep but has a similar amount. I hate that you have to keep track of all the different lengths.

The part that irritates me is the speedo cable !

Ditto. That was a major factor in my decision to convert to all electric aftermarket gauges.pila wrote:The part that irritates me is the speedo cable !

Thought that was a little odd that you were only showing one screw along that center top edge. Glad you got it taken care of. By the way, your air vent is shipping today.Bret Mullikin wrote:Found them. Thanks.

I love mechanical gauges...I guess I'm getting "set in my ways"/old. The only thing I dislike more than electrical is body work.
Which ones were hiding on you?

Re: trouble removing the dash bezel
I usually like mechanical gauges too, but when the mechanical oil pressure gauge line broke & dumped oil in the bilge on my boat, I went to electric !
Luckily I caught it before the bilge pump sucked it up & pumped it overboard. The maximum fine now for for dumping oil from a boat is $ 800 K bucks....that's what insurance is for !

I'm sorry is that $800,000.00???????? That's just plain ridiculous.

Re: trouble removing the dash bezel
I missed the two right on either side of the middle! My enthusiasm must have blinded me. It was pretty clean in there for a 39 year old car. I got the dash vent. Thanks, it's perfect. Any more thoughts or news on rear bumper fillers?

Hey, half of the missing vent fell out after I removed the bezel!

Re: trouble removing the dash bezel
Glad to hear you got the bezel off. My clock just stopped working...so, I'll be pulling mine one of these days to replace that.
As for rear fillers, I only have a spare left side at this time. Would have to browse the yard again to see if I can find a good right side.
