The white stripe looks nice on the blue. It would be argent silver from the factory, but I think that white does "pop" nicely. There is no text with this picture, where did it come from? Is it yours? Any other pics? I like it for RoTW, but wanted more info...

Re: 73 SS 454 4sp Chevelle Station Wagon
It was at a classic car dealer in the Chicago area a few years back. It came from a private collection of a GM executive that special ordered it in 73. Some where along the way it was repainted as you can tell from the color and the style of the stripes. It has a 454 with a 4 speed tranny, swivel bucket seats, power window, power locks, tilt, cruise, rear defogger, full gauges with tach, 3:42 posi rear end, etc. I'll post more pictures tomorrow. Very rare find. It sold for $27,000.

Re: 73 SS 454 4sp Chevelle Station Wagon
Not the same car... Argent stripe instead of white, and velour seats instead of vinyl. Unless someone redid it after the first pics were taken. Both have roof racks, front bumper guards, and incorrect rally wheels from a later year. Engine shot looks nice. Orange tag on the master cylinder is nice, wrong air cleaner and valve covers, but I like the chrome ones too. Headlight bezels are painted too, on both. Heck maybe it is the same one...

Re: 73 SS 454 4sp Chevelle Station Wagon
I'm thinking it's more than likely the same car with new paint and a few updates. I also noticed the A/C is a V.I.R. setup which wasn't used until the 1974 model year. The chances of 2 of these cars still running around are slim to none.

Re: 73 SS 454 4sp Chevelle Station Wagon
Interesting example for sure. I was wondering though, does the SS wagon have a small blackout paint trim around the tail light lens like the coupe does? I don't know that one. My SS coupe has blackout lens trim, but the part numbers are the same as the malibu lenses I have bought off ebay. Seems like it was done at the last minute at the factory or something the way it is sprayed in there.

Here is the info I got from the website I found it on back in September 2007.

Re: 73 SS 454 4sp Chevelle Station Wagon
Sorry, been away from here a few days. The wagons did not have the blacked out trim on the tails. This is a very nice example though, but something about it has always made me feel iffy on its authenticity. The steering wheel is wrong, the door panels seem amiss.......Pontichev327 wrote:How about it Badtemper or Dine?Anyone know if they have special lenses on the SS wagon?

Re: 73 SS 454 4sp Chevelle Station Wagon
And the other thing I thought was strange is the fact it has swivel bucket seats that barely have room to turn. This could be completely "customized" wagon that was nicely done. There is a slight possibility that some of this was done at the dealer??? I have a 75 SS El Camino with the factory 454 that has some odd options I've never seen on any other el caminos (lower door panels with carpet, dome light with map lights on each end, 4 spoke steering wheel) but the original owner stated these were special order items he asked for when he purchased it new.

Re: 73 SS 454 4sp Chevelle Station Wagon
I noticed that too -- the seats seemed to be an afterthought. What's the point of a swivel that barely goes 45°?

Re: 73 SS 454 4sp Chevelle Station Wagon
Maybe they are just slightly turned for the picture. Fully swiveling them would block the view of the other parts of the interior.

Re: 73 SS 454 4sp Chevelle Station Wagon
I have come across 2 Chevelle 1976 wagons here in Norway, that had swivel buckets and console..both wagons where sold new here, and seemed to have had the seats since new..as they where colour matched and slightly worn..like the rest of the interior.I may have some photos somewhere too.

Those seats look like '78/'79 Monte Carlo/Malibu buckets. Definitely not factory seat belts for swivel buckets, either.
