A/C VIR valve
Shop says my VIR valve is bad. What are the options ? New VIR, rebuilt VIR, or VIR eliminator. Who has best price? OK lets hear some opionions. I don't have 500.00 to spend this month. This is for the 75 Laguna.

I went with a VIR eliminator. It works fine and I switched to R134a at the same time.

Re: A/C VIR valve
I guess I don't know what a VIR eliminator is....
On my '75 project, I bought the parts for a '77, which is what the heater/AC system came out of.......
I'm in the dark on AC systems (so far)....

Re: A/C VIR valve
If you have a 77 system it does not have a VIR. It should have a CCOT (Clutch Cycling Orifice Tube) system. The older cars regulated the flow of refrigerant through a Valves in Receiver (VIR) system. It has a series of valves that regulate the flow instead of an orifice tube and high and low pressure cutout switches. The VIR was prone to having the valves gum up and stick, then the system does not work right.
