Re: American Racing Torq Thrust
Yes, they should work fine. That is the size I have on my El Camino. I have 235-55-17 tires on the wheels, if you get wider tires they MIGHT be a problem. JB

Hi, thanks for answer. Have you a Pic of them?

Re: American Racing Torq Thrust
No, but I think 17s or 18s are better looking than other sizes and my tires measure 27.1 inches in diameter, therefore fill out the wheelwells enough that they look good. I just painted my hallway in front of my garage door this morning, so can't get to the car. JB

Re: American Racing Torq Thrust
I dont see why not. They're only 8 inches wide. You just have to watch your diameter. I'm running 15" by 10" wide on the back of my chevelle. My overall diameter is 26 1/2". My offset is also 4.5". Fits great !! Definitely can go bigger diameter.

Re: American Racing Torq Thrust
They were on my 76 Monte for about 10 years! I wish I knew the offsets though. I have 15x7s and 15x8s

Re: American Racing Torq Thrust
I always liked Torq-Thrusts. They're one of the few wheels that look good on just about anything. You could put them on a shopping cart and it would be badass.

Re: American Racing Torq Thrust
I have decided.
I will mount the same wheels (AR 105 torq trust M) but 18x8" with 255/45/18 tires. I hope it looks good.

Re: American Racing Torq Thrust
Nice looking wheels for sure.....
The Torque Thrust Ds have sure been around for a long time. I used them on a '55 Chevy drag car in the 60s, so American Racing is a fairly old company.

Re: American Racing Torq Thrust
i had the idea to mount 20x8.5" on rear.
So the car is more high at rear and this will better looking.
definitly i will change the springs and shock absorbers too.
so it becames more stable and the feeling like a race car :-)
if i finished all my dreams i will post it

Re: American Racing Torq Thrust
I do not recommend 20 inch wheels. They are heavy and effect performance and do not look as good as 17s or 18s. If you want tall, just get a higher aspect ratio tire than normal. A 235-60-17 will be taller than a 235-55-17 and make the rear stick up more. My personal opinion. JB See http://www.wheelcityusa.com/tires/chart.htm

Re: American Racing Torq Thrust
hmm okey. and what's with 18x8" in front with 235/45/18 and 18x9.5" at rear with 275/45/18?

Re: American Racing Torq Thrust
That looks fine to me. Most of the others here like 15 inch wheels better, but I don't. Its all in what YOU want. JB

Re: American Racing Torq Thrust
Yes i don't too. The monte carlo is a really big car. so, big wheels fits perfectly on it. It's not a camaro :-).

Re: American Racing Torq Thrust
other question..
has anyone other springs fitted?
stiffer springs for example.
I want to keep the height of the vehicle, but the chassis must be tighter.

Re: American Racing Torq Thrust
I have been going over this whole thing myself as well. I am wanting to go with 18 x 8's at all four corners and have considered doing a 2 inch drop in the front when I buy new springs. I mainly just want that front end to be a bit lower than the back! Ill be following to see what kind of tips you get.
Good luck with it all.
