Re: people on craigslist
Well got an email and phone number today on the cutlass so will try to see it on the 4th. Just talked to him the bad is windsheild leaks and drivers floor pan is rusting through. One thing he said is that on interior it has limited edition badging anyone have any ideas on that? He's a younger guy doesn't know much about our cars cause he had never heard of swivel buckets. Opinions on the car welcome

Re: people on craigslist
Available trim packages (from haggarty website) for 73/77 cutlass as follows. Lowest to best. Cutlass S, cutlass salon, cutlass supreme being the best. There was also the 442 available. The interior looks like it was possibly customized at one time, whoever did it may have added limited edition badging. The site (haggarty) implies that cutlass S and 442's got the fast back roof.

Ok interesting any other thoughts on this car vs.the Monte Carlo? With my limited budget to get into a decent car I know I can't expect a perfect example

Re: people on craigslist
Personally, I like '73-75 Monte Carlos more than cutlass'. If you would want to rebuild, or modify the engine a SBC would be a lot cheaper since most g3 old's still have olds motors. (Before corporate chevy engines in everything). Its up yo you, a g3 cutlass is still a nice car.

Re: people on craigslist
I've owned a 75 and 77 Monte Carlo the 75 looks the best to me I've had a 74 Malibu and like the 73-74's the most but for some reason this cutlass pulls me towards it maybe the chevelle style roof (in my eyes) rather than the Monte Carlo style roof and I know that the word oldsmobile means big bucks at the parts store.

Re: people on craigslist
I prefer the fastback (chevelle) roof over the notch back (Monte Carlo) roof myself. Its rare to see a cutlass with the fastback roof, so it is a little different. Looks a little more "hot rod" and a little less formal.

Re: people on craigslist
There's a nice Monte down @ Jimi's in Arizona. Shipping would be a b!tch but he's done some nice work on it & it looks pretty darn solid. See what he wants for it- worth a look. Shipping from AZ to mid-country shouldn't be too bad.

Re: people on craigslist
Open carriers are cheaper than the enclosed trucks (but a bit riskier). The car is insured in either case while in transit with most company's. There are a lot of good ones out there like Reliable Carriers & similar. Do a little research & I bet you'd find a company that transports "Snowbird" cars from your area down there- so they're running back & forth all the time this time of year. Another consideration is that at least you know some history of the car from a member here & he seems like the type that would answer any question you had, send pics...etc.
