dies under load
motor is a 350 with a 600 holley, new holley fuel pump, new plugs and wires, new hei, car runs great idles great, but seems like after it gets warm, it will die if im coming to a stop or coasting while in gear, i can put it in neutral and rev it up a couple times it runs fine and wont die, just mainly does this while im in gear.

Re: dies under load
I had the same problem recently with my car which has a similar setup but has an Edelbrock. It happened after the car sate for a long time without being started. I rebuilt the carb and no more problems. Maybe you should take it apart and clean it out or rebuild, not sure if yours is a new or used one.
Hope that helps!

Re: dies under load
check timing, and advance timing, where are you pulling vacuum for advance from. Vacuum leak somewhere? Sounds a little fishy, check torque on manifold and carb. mount. As the engine warms up it expands, could cause vacuum leak. What is idle rpm? Could it be too low? Hate to sound insulting, but I know when I get stumped sometimes I forget the obvious. Let us know how you make out.

Also, check float levels. My mind is telling me(as I try to brainstorm, I dealt with this problem recently on a holley 750) My vacuum advance canister had a leak, causing no advance and a vacuum leak. Verify intial timing.

Re: dies under load
yeah im leaning towards vacuum leak, gonna replace all the vac hose with new ones, its gonna be one of those weird things,bc i drove it all day today in the 80s weather and it did fine lol.

Re: dies under load
Check the one on the tranny on the modulator before you start taking them all off. Check to make sure the carb bolts are tight too. Run it and spray carb cleaner around where you could have a leak if the idle changes you found the leak.Intake bolts could be loose too.

Re: dies under load
just an update, even tho the carb was new it did sit on the shelf around 10 years lol, the other day i fired it up, it ran for a few seconds flooded and then died, took a look and its shooting fuel up from the spout on the secondary bowel, so instead of dealing with it, i just bought a new summit racing 600 carb. so far it runs a lot smoother only drove it about 3 miles( rainy ) but it seems like its gonna be just fine.

Re: dies under load
Holley carbs are high maintenance, I rebuild mine every couple years, usually because it will start leaking gas. All it takes is a $40.00 rebuild kit, a can of carb cleaner, and a couple hours work. Â Not a hard job.
