hood louvers
I have been wondering about this for a while and would like some opinions about how good a idea it is. I was thinking about adding some 70 nova ss hood louvers to my 74 as a inexpensive way to personalise it. What do you think? Stupid? Cool? Any other ideas, I'm open to suggestions . Fiberglass is out of the question, as i have a wife, daughter, and a son on the way. (April28 expected due date) thank you in advance.

Hey Congrats!
What about hood louvers from a G3 Cutlass? I think that would look cool. Not sure about the Nova...what do they look like? But hey It's your car do what you think will look good & works for you.

Re: hood louvers
They look about the same as a g3 cutlass, but they reproduce the nova ones, i don't know about the cutlass ones.

Re: hood louvers
I think because of the large flat areas of out hoods, nova louvers would get kind of "lost" out in the middle there. I think I would look at some bolt on or stick on hood scoops. Kinda like what summit carries. Something with decent size and noticeable. When you center up a aftermarket scoop you will have to slightly trim the center for the raised rib that goes down the center of our hoods. Just so it fits nicely. No big deal.

Re: hood louvers
Ok, I just scored some 1967 Buick gran sport 400 hood scoops from eBay for $82.00. The auction said they are one year only and not reproduced. This should make my car very unique...(and probably pi$$ off some Buick guys)

Re: hood louvers
Cant wait to see what you do with them. Do you plan on making them functional? I plan on fabbing up a custom and hopefully functional ram air hood for my 77'.

Re: hood louvers
Damn, that's way more hardcore than i was planning. (It does look sweet though). I'm not sure about making them functional, as I don't really want to completely hack up my nice hood. But we will see when I have all parts in hand...

I first got the idea from this
And after I found the one of the El Camino above I've been sold on the idea.

I give this high marks for creativity & the amount of work that went into restoring & creating it. The rendering looks good too!
In the pics the car looks like it's in primer & the wheels are crap...is it still under construction?

Re: hood louvers
Are the hoods from Olds Cutty & 442 interchangeable with Chevelle?
These guys make both a functional & decorative hood scoop. (scroll a little over 1/2 way down in the link)
Pretty Bad-A$$ lookiing.

Re: hood louvers
I don't think they will. Looks like from where the fender meets the hood across to where the hood dips is too long and flat. Would be something good to cut up and use to fab my own but a little too spendy. Nice find nonetheless, I knew nothing about these guys. It would look better if the intake holes matched the same skew as the grill though.

Re: hood louvers
Does art fiberglass only make parts for oldsmobiles? I don't see any links for other models. They make some nice looking pieces. Prices are not that bad but shipping would probably double the price to Ohio. I have been looking for a cowl hood or ramair style for 73 Chevelle for a while. VFN seems to be the best source so far.

I frequent Mentor for work occasionally. I drive a truck. Nice town. Nice looking ride you have there. Do you go to all the cruisins out east? I need to get out there this summer. I think that I have seen all the westside cars.
