Tire size and wheel size
Hello everyone,
I need some serious help.
I am restoring a 75 elcamino{dads}.
I plan on going old ss cragers, also would like to have a little rake.
I dont know what kind of backspacing i need, and whats going to look good
Any recommendations for a setup. definately want wider in back.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Tire size and wheel size
I am running 17x8 wheels with 235-55-17 tires on my 74 Elky and love the 17 inch wheels. If I had it to do over I would get 17x10 inch wheels with a wider tire for the back only. Most people here use the 15x10 inch wheels on the back. I love my 17s. JB

Re: Tire size and wheel size
you start with 15x7 and 4" back spacing and add half inch of BS for every inch of width. so 15x8 is 4.5"
15x9 is 5"
15x10 is 5.5"
This is to get the rear to tuck up and wheel wheel centered in wheel well. Every car is different but this is the best method to get close.

Re: Tire size and wheel size
I'm running 15 X 10 on the back of my 77 Elky. With the 295-50 tires and a 5" back space. Everything clears nicely.
