Re: Vortec and 4l80e transplant
Those 4L80 transmissions were used in 1-ton Chevy vans, and are tough as hell. Should put one in my Caddy powered Elco !! A friend has one, but I couldn't pry it away from him !!

You're going to need a transmission controller too. Have you decided what you're going to use? I have a GMPP that worked great, and has a good tune in it. Used it for 2 years before pulling it out to go with the Holley EFI computer. It lists for $1200+ but I'll sell it for $600.

Thats a good deal. Will that controller run a newer 6-speed? I was thinking of a 4l60E swap some years back and with the cost of the trans build and then another $1000+ for the electronics to run it all was just too much. Although being able to adjust shift firmness/points at your finger tips would be nice to have. I went with a 2004r. great tranny. I had it built 6yrs ago and it's holding up great.
Pila, With the additional cost of a custom bellhousing and flexplate you'r stuck with the 200. It's the only OD tranny GM made with the universal bellhousing. Popular with the BOP guys. It's an easy swap into our cars.

Re: Vortec and 4l80e transplant
I'm not sure if it runs the new 6 speeds.
I know it works with 4L60-E, 4L65-E, 4L70-E, 4L80-E, 4L85-E Automatic Transmission.
It really is nice to be able to adjust the firmness. I had it set up to drive like a new car under part throttle. You didn't even know it was shifting. Then when you mash the gas, it's full "race" mode, and the shifts are hard as can be. Really is a sweet set up.

Re: Vortec and 4l80e transplant
After driving a good distance, the motor seems to deposit lots of oil into the passenger side exhaust, stopped at a muffler shop and oil was dripping at a joint he needed to weld.
Any ideas?
Seems to only smoke when hammered hard on the freeway, don't see anything while slowly cruising the back roads.
Im sick of the loud fuel pump too.
Anyone know if the 10067353 crate engine has manual fuel pump provision?
Ive got a line on a 454...tough choice.
Thanks.

If you check out this link Sinister, you'll notice it shows that it comes with a fuel pump included.
