Re: Vortec and 4l80e transplant
Previous owner must have lubricated chassis with engine oil...grime everywhere but...no real rust except drivers floor area.

Re: Vortec and 4l80e transplant
I've never owned a car so close to pure factory than this one.
I got the engine out today, and gave the whole car a complete inspection.
All the brake and fuel lines are perfect...the parking brake actually works smoothly and releases correctly.
Floors are the only bad spots...no rust through except for the drivers feet area...but the metal looks a little weak.

Re: Vortec and 4l80e transplant
I would like to find a nice laguna nose..the avatar picture I found with the same paint scheme is cool...I like it!
I'm going to polish up the car today and see how it looks.
The hood and top are rough, but the sides will probably polish up pretty nicely.
Polished up the bumpers yesterday...looks great.

Re: Vortec and 4l80e transplant
I actually like the interior, but I do have some buckets I removed from a minivan. I also grabbed the carpeting and floor insulation...we shall see what happens. I might install them while I re cover the current interior. First thing on my parts list is a tilt column...hate standard columns. The paint was super dry,I rubbed it out with rubbing compound and three coats of wax...this is what I got...

Re: Vortec and 4l80e transplant
If you're still going with 4L80e you want to look forward to figure out the cooler lines. You may not have to bother depending on what mounts you use and where the transmission sets, but I ended up using banjo fittings for my setup. Nothing else would clear the tunnel for the rear cooler line. The front line I was able to use a fitting from the truck I pulled my transmission from though. 4l80e is a great transmission and you will be much better off with it than the older transmissions as long as your controller is quality. Also TH400 yoke = 4l80E yoke. They didnt change it
