Re: 1973-1977 parts for sale
I am looking for the bottom air vent/cover. (vent below the glove box). I also need the vent/cover that fits below the steering column. These parts are needed for my 1975 Chevelle. Notify me if you have any of these parts. If you do, let me know the price and how to handle the purchase.
Thanks,
Danny

Re: 1973-1977 parts for sale
Welcome to the site, Scott!
Regarding the sport mirror, if nobody has one laying around, I could probably find a good one out in the junk yard. Also, they can be had on e-Bay. If yours is missing, be advised that it's important to get one with the correct plastic spacer at the pedestal base for correct mounting angle on the door. They vary among the different '73-'77 makes/models.

Re: 1973-1977 parts for sale
So what you're saying Steve is that if one were to use the wrong spacer, it might make the mirror be at the wrong angle on the door? I put sport mirrors on mine, but they were off a Lemans I believe.

Re: 1973-1977 parts for sale
I probably overstated the importance that the spacer be correct. I happen to have a spacer from a Lemans and compared it to one I have from a Chevelle. It's about twice as thick at the lower edge...which would cause the mirror housing to tilt inwards towards the window somewhat. However, it's probably not noticeable since it could be compensated for by adjusting the mirror glass for proper viewing. So, in the grand scheme of things, it's probably not that big of deal, afterall.

Re: 1973-1977 parts for sale
I want sport mirrors for mine but I do not want the remote mirror on the drivers side. Is that possible?

Re: 1973-1977 parts for sale
Sure...just cut the three control cables as close to the base pedestal as possible. Actually, you can remove the head from the pedestal and cut them further up inside the mirror if you want to go to the trouble.
Be advised that, if your car had the chrome mirror, the sport mirror base will not cover the pattern left on the paint from the chrome mirror base. A buffing of the paint may alleviate that.

Re: 1973-1977 parts for sale
I was going to say the same thing about cutting the cable Damon, but I was waiting for the resident expert, Steve, to chime in on this. I went from chrome remote to sport remote and had to do just a little buffing to hide the marks the chrome mirror's base left.

Re: 1973-1977 parts for sale
That's good to know that the mirror will not flop around without the support from the cables.
I'm not too worried about the spot under the mirror. The roof and sides will have to be repainted anyway since I'm removing the vinyl roof, door guards, wheel well trim and lower trim. Lots of holes to fill.
