Forgotten Years (1973-1977) Car Club
Hi everyone,
I started a local Oldsmobile Club in the New York area about 3 years ago. Our chapter is an Official Chapter of the Oldsmobile Club of America and we are growing every year. The club is a formal club and I was thinking of doing something less formal and have some fun. I own a 1977 Cutlass Supreme Brougham and am starting to meet more and more people with cars from these years. So a couple of buddies and me got to talking and we are kicking around the idea of starting an informal low key car club encompassing all GM A Body Cars from 1973-1977. We are thinking of calling the club "The Forgotten Years Car Club" or something of that nature. I have seen groups in social media like Facebook with these cars, but we are thinking of actually starting a club where we would get together, go to car shows, cruises, or just get the cars out together. Only being here a short time, I didn't know if a club like this already exists, what the interest level would be, and just wanted to get some opinions to the idea. Nothing at all has been done with this other than a couple of us talking about it at a car show.
Anyone have any thoughts or ideas on the subject?

Sounds like a good idea. Sal,are you looking for more things to do? I would be interested in it. Those 2 guys that come to rt 22 on Fridays with the red Cutlass and the silver Chevelle I bet would be interested as well.

Anthony those are the guys that planted the seed in my head. I think it would take a while to build up but eventually I think we would get a nice following.

That sounds like a great idea for a club. Maybe if you get it started we could build chapters of the same club in different cities.

1973-1977 A Body Club
Sounds like a good idea to me too. There is a lot more interest in these cars than publications reflect. Everywhere I go in one of mine, people always come uo to me and start talking. I know it's the car because when I drive a normal car, they never walk up and just start talking. I know 5 guys locally that have cars like ours that would support the idea here in South Carolina. Ive loved these cars since seeing my frist 73 Chevelle, then a 74 Laguna, kid bought a brand new onw in high school, and the first 75 Laguna in the show room when I was a teenager. Just love the cars! Count on my support, Mitch

Post CoronaVirus Cars & Coffee
Well with everything going on in the world and "social distancing" being the new in thing, maybe when this all blows over and the weather gets nicer, we can start with people getting together at a "cars & coffee" type get together. There are several good places to meet in the area and just thought if things relax a bit we can get our cars out. I know alot of shows and events are cancelling so who knows what this summer is going to look like. I have a couple of places in mind in the Westchester and Putnam County areas, but if anyone else has any suggestions, let's do it. Of course, after all this "stuff" is over.
Thoughts?
