Tommy's White 74 Monte
I picked up this beautiful 74 Monte Carlo for $400 on craigslist. I had sold my dream Monte a few years back to pay the mortgage, a mistake I will never make again. I had always kept my eyes open for a deal but since I am poor, it had to be a DEAL. One day I come across this ad:
It has rust under the 1/2 top of course but the rest of the body is freakin awesome and it has a nice paint job done right. It used to be the color of my last Monte Carlo which I like and the PO pulled the front clip and painted the fenders and all parts separately so I know it was a job done right. The floor pans are super solid with zero rust, and the lower panels are super perfect as well.
So I came back that weekend and took it home and cleaned it up:
I found and engine and transmission from a '86 Monte Carlo for $300 on CL also the next month, and the guy took $200 for it since I couldn't hear it run, but when I got it home and put it on the run stand it ran perfect!

The latest news (as of Last week!!!) The drivetrain is in, and I got the exhaust on, and the only next step is to get it legal! Speaking of which, here is a video of my very first drive with the new exhaust...

It's amazing to me that you can still pick up a car like that for $400...that's basically scrap value around here! Awesome deal...and, nice job getting it back on the road!

Re: Tommy's White 74 Monte
That is an awesome deal!
I found mine on craiglist as well for $500, talked him down to $300 since it had a nasty knock and the trans didn't work. Yours is in awesome shape, mine is very much a beater in comparison, though it has one quarter sized rust hole under the rocker trim, its all original right down to the faded and failed original paint.
Can of mystery oil fixed the stuck lifter, and a trans swap from my old 76 got it moving again.

I got a bonded title a couple months ago, got exhaust on it last week, will be getting it insured and inspected and driving every day within the next couple weeks... Thanks for the positive comments.
